Golden Cucumber

Once upon a time, there was a widow
named Mbok Randa. Her husband had
passed away long time ago, so that she
lived there alone. She had no children and
she prayed to god to get a child. One night
when she prayed,
Mbok Randa: “Oh.. i’m so lonely. I wish
i have a daughter, God.”
[ Bummm … Bummmm] a giant passed
her house and heard her pray.
Giant: “Hahahaha… Do you want a
child? I can give you a child”.
Mbok Randa: “Really? Are you sure?”

you should give the child back to me when
she is seventeen years old”.

cucumber seeds around your house”
The giant gave her the cucumber
seeds. In the morning, Mbok Randa
planted the seeds just like what the
giant asked.

Mbok Randa was so happy and didn’t

think the risk of losing child later.

Mbok Randa: “That’s okay”.

Shortly, the seeds grew up after some Year passed and Timun Mas has grown A few days later, the giant came to
to be a beautiful and lovely little girl. Mbok Randa house and asked for the
days and there were several cucumbers promise. Mbok Randa told her daughter

Giant: “Hahahaha.. You cannot fool
me, young lady!”

After that, she opened the second
bag that contains the needles and spilled
them behind her. The needles magically
turned into the bamboo trees forests which
were thorny. The giant bodies were bled
and scratched.
Giant: “Aaarrggh! It was very hurt!”
Unfortunately, he made it and chased her
again.
Timun Mas opened the third bag
and spilled the salt inside. That made the
soil which the salt touched turned into the
very deep sea.
Giant: “Oh..little girl. This cannot stop me
to catch you! Hahaha”
The giant could swim well though the
sea and run after her again. Timun mas
desperately opened the last thing her
mother gave to her. She spreads the
shrimp paste. It turns into boiling
volcanic mud and drowned him. Finally,
Timun Mas came back to her home and
live happily ever after with Mbok
Randa.
