1. JANE EYRE FOCUS ACTIVITY –PAIR ACTIVITY

Read the following lead questions and discuss with your assigned partner.

a) Growing up, most people at some time have the experience of being left out or feeling like an outsider. In your
opinion, why is this experience so painful? Discuss.

b) Think of some situations in which a person might feel ignored or rejected by a group of people. What kind of
feelings do people have in these situations? How can the experience of feeling like an outcast shape a person’s
personality? Discuss.

c) Setting a Purpose. Read to find out about the experiences of a young girl who is both an orphan and an outsider.
You can find plenty of examples in the first 10 chapters of the book.

Task: After your discussion you must write an overall reflection on the matters discussed. Your reflection should not
exceed 200 words. Include at least 1 or 2 quotes.
