 ~WHAT IS A SYNOPSIS?

A synopsis is a brief overview of the plot of a book, film, or

other work of fiction. It is usually no more than a few
paragraphs long, giving the reader an idea of what to expect
from the story.

The synopsis should include the title, word count, genre and
your name at the top of the page. Ideally the synopsis should
fit on one page. Stylistically, your synopsis should be written
in present tense and told from a (third person) omniscient
narrator's point of view.

A synopsis conveys the narrative arc, an explanation of the

problem or plot, the characters, and how the book or novel
ends. It ensures character actions and motivations are realistic
and make sense. It summarizes what happens and who changes
from beginning to end of the story.
