thermodynamics.

4. Compare and Contrast between pyramid of biomass and pyramid of productivity.

5. State the units for storages of biomass as represented in pyramid of biomass and state the
units used or energy flow as represented in pyramids of productivity.

6. Draw ecological pyramids to represent the following data.

9. According to a study in long Island Estuary, concentrations of less than 0.1 ppm of DDT in
plankton lead to concentrations of upto 25 ppm of sea birds. (Ehrlich et.al.1998) Explain why the
concentration is notably higher amongst the sea birds.

10. In sufficient amounts, DDT affects the hardness of the bird shell (which often results in the
shell breaking and the offspring dying before hatching at an appropriate time). Draw a diagram
to show how DDT run off from farmland can result in egg thinning in sea-gulls.
