Lab OLM-1 Configuring the Training Resources


Flexfields
Objective: To define the Training Resources Flex Field 15-20 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall configure the Training Resource Flex Field.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the System Administrator Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Task:

Create Computers as a Resource type, using Training Resources Key Flex Field. Segments shall
be Service tag and Name; we shall also add the values to the segments.
Service Tag values:
A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2
Name Values:
Lenovo, Dell, HP and Sony Vaio.
Value Set Name Maximum Size Validation Type

2. Navigate to- System Administrator> Application> Flex Field> Key> Segments.


3. Query the following in the fields:
a. Application- Learning Management
b. Flexfield Title- Training Resource
4. In the Structures block, click on the blank field under Code. Add CO Press tab, which will
take you to the next field, which is Title field.

5. Click on the Segments button, add 2 segments-

6. Define the Value sets by the following method:


a. Select XX_Service Tag.
b. Click on Value Set.
c. Add the value as specified in the task.

7. Make sure the Displayed and Enabled check boxes are ticked.

a. For XX_Service tag- Click on value set.

b. Similarly create the Value Set for Name as XX_Name.

c. Click on Save and confirmation message “Transactions Applied and 1 record


saved” appears.

8. Return to the Key Flexfields Segments window. Select Freeze Flexfield Definition.
Click on OK button of the Caution message.

9. Select Allow Dynamic Inserts. Click on Compile to save the work.

10. Add values to the Segments that you have defined-

a. [N] System Administrator> Application> Flexfield> Key> Values


b. Find Values by “Value Set” should be selected. From the respective List of
Values {LOV} add the following details-
i. Name- XX_Security Tag
c. Click on “Find”.

11. Add the details i.e. Values as per the table above:

Make sure “Enabled” is ticked. Save the information.

12. Similarly query for Type Service Tag.

Add the following information the same way as above.

13. Make sure “Enabled” is ticked. Save the information.


The XX_Computer represents the Resource we created; XX_Name and XX_Service Tag
are the Segments that define the various values XX_Computer holds.

14. [N] XX HRMS Manager> Other Definition> Lookup Tables

15. Add XX_Computer in this Lookup Table. This shall ensure that the Resource type reflects
in the resource Self Service Page.

Organization
Objective: To setup location and training Organization 10 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Locations and Training Organizations for Oracle
Learning Management purpose.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the XX HRMS Manager Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Part A

1. Log in as User- bpalmer and Password- oracle.


2. Use the navigation, [N] XX HRMS Manager> Work Structures> Location.
3. The Global radio button is checked by default.
4. Put in the Details- Name and Address Style. Save the data.
5. Click on the Address field and enter the details in the pop up fields.

6. Save the data.

Part B

1. Navigate to the Organization form using the following Navigation;

2. Save the work up to location.


3. Enter Training Center and HR Organization in the Organization classification.
4. Tick on enabled.
5. Save the data.

Objective: To create Delivery mode 5 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Delivery Mode to be used for Oracle Learning
Management purpose.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the Oracle Learning Management Administrator
Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Task:
Create an Online Synchronous mode as on 01-Dec-2008 with the name of XX_Demo
Mode.

Solution:

1. [N] Oracle Learning Management Administrator> Catalog Administration> "Setup" Tab>


"Delivery Modes" link
2. Click on Create Delivery Mode
3. Enter name as XX_Demo Delivery Mode and start date as 01-Dec-2008
4. Select “Online Synchronous” Delivery Mode.
5. “Apply” to save the information.
6. Confirmation- Successfully applied XX_Delivery Mode XX_Demo 1.

Objective: To create Category and Course 15 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Category and courses for Oracle Learning Management
purpose.

or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the Oracle Learning Management Administration
Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Task:

1. Create “XX_Demo Category” under the Root Category named Vision Corporation, Start
Date as 01-Dec-2008
2. Create XX_Demo Course 1, 2 and 3 with Start date as 01-Dec-2008

Solution:

1. [N] Oracle Learning Management Administrator> Catalog

• Select Vision Corporation


• Pick “Category” from the Create Drop Box
• In the Create Category page, add the following:
i. Category- XX_Demo Category
ii. Start Date- 01-Dec-2008
• Click on “Apply” to Save.
• Confirmation- successfully applied Category XX_Demo Category.

2. [N] Oracle Learning Management Administrator> Catalog

• Select XX_Demo Category.


• Pick “Course” from the Create Drop Box
• In the Create Class page, add the following:
i. Course- XX_Demo Course 1
ii. Course Code- DC001
iii. Intended Audience- Technical Support team
iv. Start Date- 01-Dec-2008
• Click on “Apply” to Save.
• Confirmation- Successfully applied Course XX_Demo Course 1.
• Click on the Details icon in front of XX_Demo Course 1.
• Click on Learner Competency.

Objective: To create Offerings, Classes and Sessions 30 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Offerings, Classes and Sessions for Oracle Learning
Management purpose.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the Oracle Learning Management Administration
Responsibility.

1. Create XX_Demo Offering 1 under XX_Demo Course 2


2. Create XX_Demo Class
a. XX_Training Center 1
b. Duration-1 day
c. Start Date- 07-Dec-2008.
3. Create 2 Sessions
a. XX_Session 1 at XX_Training Center1 from 08:00 to 14:00
b. XX_Session 2 at XX_Training Center 1 from 15:00 to 20:00

• Click on the Offerings against XX_Demo Course 2.

• Click on Classes link


• Click on "Create Class"
• Add the following:
i. Title- XX_Demo Class
ii. Training Center- XX_Training Center 1
iii. Location- CSP10000
iv. Status- Normal
v. Start Date- 07-Dec-2008
vi. Duration- 1 Day(s)
vii. Time Zone- GMT
viii. Enrollment Start Date- 06-Dec-2008
• Confirmation- Successfully applied Class XX_Demo Class.

3. [N] Oracle Learning Management Administrator> Catalog> Classes> Session

• Click on Session against the XX_Demo Class


• Click on Add Session
• Add the Following details:
i. Session- XX_Session 1
ii. Training Center- XX_Training Center 1
iii. Location- XX_Aspen 212
iv. Start Date- 07-Dec-2008
v. Start Time- 08:00
vi. End Time- 14:00
• Click on “Apply” to Save.
• Similarly make Session named Session 2 as per the Details provided above.

Objective: To create Learning Path 15 minutes

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Learning Path for Oracle Learning Management purpose.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the Oracle Learning Management Administration
Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Task:

1. Create XX_Demo learning path under XX_Demo Category with a completion target of 10
days starting from 11-Dec-2008.
2. Create 2 Sections, XX_Section 1 and XX_Section 2.
3. Under XX_Section 1:
a. Add Components- XX_Demo Course 1 and XX_Demo Course 2
b. Make All courses are mandatory
4. Under XX_Section 2:
a. Add Components- XX_Demo Course 3 and XX_Demo Techniques
b. Make One or more components mandatory.

3. Enter the Details in the Create Learning Path page as mentioned in the Task.
4. Click on Apply and Add Details.
5. To put up Sections, click on “Manage Sections”. Click on Create Sections.

6. Add the XX_Section 1 as the name.


7. Make All Components Mandatory.
8. Apply.
9. Click on XX_Section 1 link and then click on the "Components" link, and then on the
"Add" button

10. Search for XX_Demo Course 1 and “Add the Section”, fill out the Completion Target
(Days) as 2 days. Similarly add XX_Demo Course 2 to XX_Section 1. Click on Apply
11. Similarly Add XX_Section 2 and its Components.

purpose.

Objective: To book resources to Objects- Class and

Instructions:
In this exercise you shall create Learning Path for Oracle Learning Management purpose.

Assumptions:

• You must have access to an Oracle Application Vision database or comparable training
or test instance at your site on which to complete this lab session.
• Log in as bpalmer/welcome and use the Oracle Learning Management Administration
Responsibility.
• Add a Suffix or Prefix to your work as an identification. For example XX_Class,
XX_Session etc.

Task:

1. Book trainer Bates, Mrs. Robin as resource


a. Object type- session.
b. Start Date 07-12-2008
c. End date 07-12-2008 from 08:00 to 14:00 hrs
d. Booking status confirmed
e. Primary trainer as the Trainer Role.
2. Add XX_Computer Resource C1.Sony Vaio to the following:
a. XX_Demo class.

1. Navigate to the Resource Booking Page
[N] Oracle Learning Management Administrator> Resource> Resource Booking
2. Search for the Session as per the Details in the task and click on Go.
3. Select Trainer in the Add list and Click on Go.
4. Add the Details like the Screen Shot under and as mentioned in the Task.

5. Click on Apply. We have booked Bates, Mrs. Robin for the Session.
6. Adding Non- Consumable resource, XX_Computer, XX_ C1. Sony Vaio.

8. Apply the booking.
9. When we add the Same Resource to Session name Session 1 {Quantity – 3} we get a
warning message that states-
