Instructor Feedback on Annotated Bibliography

For the Final Draft on Annotated Bibliography:

This annotated bibliography was graded on five criteria, each of which was worth four points.

These were:

Controlling Idea: 4

Evidence: 4

Audience Awareness: 3

Genre Competency: 3

MLA Style & Grammar: 0

That makes for a total of 14/20, 70% (C).

Good work finding so many sources and digging deep into each of them. We have already

described the issues with this text in person and over email. However, to summarize, the lack of

in-text citation here would count as plagiarism if this were a regular essay (MLA Style &

Grammar). Furthermore, the lack of in-text citation not only raises the specter of plagiarism

charges, but it also makes writing your research analysis essay more difficult because instead of

being able to pull a quote directly from this documents annotations, you're going to have to go

reread the article in question that the annotation is referencing and find the page number for your

quotation there to put your citation together. In this way, the lack of citation negates some of the

rhetorical purposes that the annotated bibliography genre is meant to carry out (Audience

Awareness, Genre Competency).

Be sure to either delete unnecessary material, or provide proper citation for any quoted and/or

lightly paraphrased material in this annotated bibliography before submitting it for your final
portfolio. Failure to do so will result in an F for the portfolio assignment (and likely the course),

along with a report to the honor counsel.
