ABOUT US

Rishworth House Primary

School is one of Zimbabwe's
up and coming private
schools with aspirations of
becoming a prominent
contender amongst the
leading independent schools.

The school was founded in

2015 on a property in the
tranquil and scenic suburb of
Hogerty Hill and has
panoramic views of
Borrowdale Brooke and
beyond. It is a Christian, co-
educatiol and multi-racial
day school made up of the
ECD Department (Nursery,
ECD A and ECD B ) and the
Junior School Department
(Grades 1-7.
A Word From The Headmistress
Rishworth House Primary School is a multi-racial school which is
located in a quiet and serene environment in the heart of Philadelphia in
the leafy suburb of Borrowdale. It is a school which does not
discriminate learners according to religion, language or physical
disabilities. The school offers quality education, focusing on the
Cambridge and Zimsec syllabi. RHPS also promotes inclusive education
with regard to learners' individual abilities. We enrol students of all
nationalities including those students whose early formative years are
beyond our borders.

Our enrollment structure is tailor-made to offer quality education, with

our teacher pupil ratio at a maximum of 1:20 learners. This allows the
teachers to have an individual education plan (IEP) where the classroom
facilitator has time to attend to individual students’ learning needs. As a
small school, RHPS allows every child to come out of their shell without
being overwhelmed or intimidated by big numbers as is the case with
larger schools.

Our learner centered approach enables our learners to achieve their

highest potential. We offer clinical treatment to learners with learning
difficulties. Our learners are guided by our motto that says, " By means
of knowledge and hard work", and so we can obtain the best results
through the application of knowledge which is acquired through hard
work.

RHPS students are guided by the school code of conduct which has laid
out standards of behaviour, acts of misconduct and charges for any act
which may be regarded as violating the principles and values of the
school. The school code of conduct is moulded by a Christian
background and Christian moral values.

"By means of knowledge and hard work"

RHPS recruits qualified personnel with vast expertise in the educational field
and a high degree of dedication to the teaching profession. The recruitment
criteria also cascades down to the non- teaching staff. The school's bus drivers
are ex-police members and such personnel maximize our learners’ safety.

To date, the majority of our former grade 7 students have been absorbed into
the most affluent high schools in Zimbabwe. These include St George's,
Gateway, Arundel , Watershed, The Heritage School, Dominican Convent,
Eaglesvale, among others.

RHPS has moved with time to embrace the online teaching and learning
platforms. The Covid-19 induced shutdowns did not stop the learning process
at Rishworth House. The teachers continued teaching using the Google
classroom, Google Meet and Zoom platforms as well as PowerPoint slides and
voice overs where students and the parents had face-to-face online
interaction with their teachers. Marking and assessments were also done
online with constant feedback being given to the students throughout the
online learning programmes.

RHPS also offers outdoor learning initiatives through educational tours which
are undertaken by the school every term. First term tours are within Harare,
second term tours are outside Harare and learners embark on a 3 day sleep-
over tour in the third term.

In a nutshell, Rishworth House Primary School aims to produce learners who

are academically excellent, morally upright and physically fit to compete in the
global village.

The Role Of Parents In The
School
Parents are expected to play a pivotal role in the education of their children.
This should be done in the following ways:

Providing assistance in the form of required resources and homework.

Providing feedback from homework, especially for reading which is
important for the development of the child.
School fees should be paid timeously to avoid exclusion of the child from
lessons.
Parents should be punctual when dropping off and picking up children.
Parents are to ensure that students do not miss school unnecessarily to
avoid interruptions in concept development.
All parents are expected to attend all school events as a show of support
for their children and the school.
Any concerns or problems that parents may have regarding the
children's educational development or well-being should be reported to
the school through the School Secretary.

Canteen

The school's Canteen is outsourced to an independent company called Marble

Caterers. The school's administration oversees the operation of the Canteen
including approving the menu and ensuring health and safety procedures are
upheld at all times.

The Canteen charges per month for daily lunch and all payments are made
directly to the catering company.

The menu includes rice, sadza, potatoes, sphaghetti, beef, chicken and
vegetables. All meals are served with juice and a dessert. ECD students also
receive cereal in the morning as well as a snack at 10am. Another snack is
given after their afternoon nap.

The canteen also offers a break time snack and milk as a special arrangement
with parents.

Transport

The School has two buses - that is the East Bus and
the West Bus. The buses ferry students to and
from school every day. Students are picked up and
dropped off at various designated points closest to
their homes.

The current transport charge is US$100 per

month for the furthest distance to and fro and
US$30 for the shortest distance. Any parents
interested in joining the school bus run should
contact the school secretary for information on
pick-up, drop-off points and actual cost.

Parents and students are expected to read,

understand and adhere to the rules and
regulations stipulated for use of the buses.

Both our bus drivers are ex-servicemen in the

police force with many years of experience as
drivers and law enforcement officers. They are
well qualified and experienced to ferry the
students and ensure maximum safety of learners
and staff at all times.
