Overview
What is LMIS?
LMIS (Laundry Management Information System) is a Management system for easy and
convenient management and set-up of Electrolux Professional washers and dryers connected in
a Launderette network. It uses a PC which is installed at the location of the Launderette and
which runs the Server NT service and the Server Manager application. The Server NT service
starts automatically with the PC, collecting statistics data from the machines in the network. The
server Manager application is used to set up and manage user accounts, laundry lay-out and
set-up and other settings in the LMIS system on the Server PC.
The server Manager application does not have to be running in order for the LMIS server NT
service to collect data
A Client application is installed on the same PC or any other PC with access to the Server PC
through LAN, WLAN or internet connection. The Client application is used to monitor the
machine usage and performance, and to perform various configuration of parameters on the
machines.
Note! In order to make it easier for the Client to be able to connect to the server, it is
recommended to configure a DNS or static IP address on the Server computer, rather than
using a DHCP.

Through the Client it is possible to view statistics data on machine usage, program usage,
revenue and other data over time per machine or machine group. This way you can manage
pricing, happy hour settings and other configurations per machine or machine groups for
maximum profitability.
LMIS supports e-mail and text messaging alerts on certain events, fully configurable per user
account.

Starting the Server Manager application

In order to start LMIS Server Manager Application, select the LMIS Server Manager in your
Start menu.

Server start.jpg

Note! Once set-up of the system is finished, the LMIS Server manager does not have to be
running in order for LMIS to collect data. As long as the NT service is running, the data
collection will be performed. The NT service is started automatically when you start the server
PC.

Resolve block state

LMIS keeps track of machine model and CPU ID on each machine address. If a machine has
been replaced and the same address is used, or if the machine CPU has been replaced, LMIS
will detect this and the machine will enter blocked state. If a machine is in blocked state, there
will be an additional menu item, Resolve blockstate in the drop down menu.

Machine networks resolve blockstate 1.jpg

In order to manage the issue, right click the machine in the machine list and select Resolve
blockstate or click the button.
During blocked state, the machine can still be used, but LMIS does not collect any data from it.

Machine networks resolve blockstate 2.jpg

The Resolve block state dialog, looks different depending on the reason for the machine being
set in blocked state. The dialog shows the cause, which could give a hint about what is wrong,
and there are different actions to resolve the issue.

CPU serial number mismatch:

machine. Statistics from the old machine will be kept separately in the database, but the
machine will not be visible in the network list. If you wish, you can remove statistics for the old
machine later, see Show removed machines below.

Merge machines:
This option is only available if the reason for blocked state is CPU mismatch. Select this action if
you have replaced the previous machine with same model or replaced CPU, and you want to
add new data to the previous statistics. Once the selection is made, LMIS will start collecting
data, adding it to the previously saved data.

Cancel:

Database settings

Database settings
Under General settings the database file, data folder and backup folder can be defined.
The Database file shows the present database in which logged data will be stored. Default
data folder is the folder where databases are located. Backup files folder is the folder where
both automatically generated and manually created system backup files are stored.
If a backup file is restored, a new database file is created in the default data folder, in order not
to compromise the

System settings
System settings

System settings.jpg

Under TCP connection settings you can control how Clients can access the server.

Allow client connection: When this box is checked, clients are allowed to connect to the
server. It is advised to uncheck it temporarily if you intend to perform major server maintenance,
like restoring a database backup. Since settings changed from the server will instantly be
reflected in connected clients, it might be confusing with sudden changes.
TCP Port: This is the communication port that the server uses for incoming and outgoing
TCP/IP data communication. Default port is 18200, but can be changed in accordance with your
local IT rules. The same port number must be stated in the Client log on window under Server
settings.
Note! In order to make it easier for the Client to be able to connect to the server, it is
recommended to configure a DNS or static IP address on the Server computer, rather than
using a DHCP.

Allow connection keep alive: When this box is checked, connected clients will stay connected
until logged out from the client side. If unchecked, the connection session will automatically be
terminated after the time stated in Client session timeout.
The Machine write job settings states how to handle write jobs. Write jobs are parameter
changes initiated from the Configuration tab in a Client.
Write job timeout states how long a write job will be active in case it has not been possible to
perform, e.g. due to machine in wrong state.
Write job history states how long a finished write job will be visible before it is removed from
the Configuration jobs list in the Client.
Write job max retries states how many times a write job may timeout before it is cancelled.
Force write to machine. If unchecked, write jobs started from Client Configuration settings will
only be written to a machine if the present machine setting differs from the one stated in the
write job. If they are the same, no write will be performed.
If checked, write jobs started from Client Configuration settings will be written to a machine,
even if the present machine setting is the same as the one stated in the write job.
Notification history states how long notifications will be stored in the database. After the set
time, notifications will be automatically deleted even if they have not been read by all users.
Machine definition files displays the folder and file name of the LMIS internal machine
configuration files. The fields are only for information and are not possible to change.

Price settings

Client configuration price settings.jpg

The Price settings view handles settings related to program prices for machines. The present
settings for a machine is updated whenever you select a machine in the machine list. Settings
that does not apply to the selected machine will not be displayed.
There are different groups of price settings.
Coin parameters allows you to set the value of Coin value 1 and Coin value 2 and select if a
decimal sign should be present in the price indication. A coin value of 50 will be presented as
00.50 if decimal is used.
Price reduction is used together with an external input. The price reduction is valid only if the
external input is activated. Price reduction is entered in % and will reduce the cost by the
percentage entered. The new price will be rounded upwards to the closest higher value possible
to achieve by the available coin values. If a Happy hour schedule is active, price reduction is
ignored.
Time per coin is only valid for dryers, and states the amount of drying time that one piece of
Coin 1 will render. If coin input 2 is also used, the time added will correspond to the relation
between values of coin 1 and 2.
Regret time is the time that it shall be possible to change the selected program after it has been
started.
If Auto start paid is set to Yes, the selected program will start when full price is paid, provided
the door on the machine is closed.
Block start active is used together with an external input on machines having this function. If
Block start active is set to Yes, the external input must be activated in order to be able to start
the machine. On machines not having the function, this parameter is ignored.

Price reduction on program price only can be used with both Price reduction function above,
and Happy hour schedule, see Happy hour below. If set to Yes, any price reduction will be
applied to the program price only. If set to No, price reduction will also affect price on program
Option or Triangle option selected.
Program prices allows you to set the price on each program in the machine. For washers, this
is the basic price to run the selected program. For dryers, this is the minimum price to start a
drying cycle. This price will render a drying time that corresponds to the Time per coin under
coin parameters above. A coin value of 50 will be presented as 00.50 if decimal is used.
Triangle prices and Option prices allows you to set an additional price for selecting a Triangle
option or a program option. This price setting is optional and can be additive or reductive. To
make a reduction, enter a minus sign in front of the price.
When you have made changes to the Price settings, you must write the changes to one or more
machines before you exit the view. See Writing Configuration changes.

Writing Configuration changes

Changes in configuration must be written to one or several machines for each configuration
setting, Machine settings, Price settings, Happy hour and Active programs, individually. If
you select another configuration setting before writing the changes to a machine, your
temporary changes will be lost.
When you click Write after changing parameters, the Create configuration job dialog will
open. The actual write job will not be created until you click the Create button. LMIS will detect
which sub group(s) of the present Configuration setting was changed, and the corresponding
checkbox(es) will be automatically checked. By default, the Target scope drop-down menu will
state a single machine target where the machine that you made the parameter change on is
preselected,. You can change the target scope and parameters to change, to fit your intentions.
With target Single machine, you can keep the original machine, or click a radio button to select
another one. Only the last one selected will be the target machine.

Client configuration create config job.jpg

If you for example made changes to the sub group Machine user interface settings on Machine
W6, you can select to add also other sub groups, by checking the box to the left of each setting.
This could be useful if you want to ensure that all settings from the selected machine will be the
same on the whole group of machines. See also Force write to machine under Server
manager.
You can then write the changes to another Single machine, All machines, Machine group or
Custom targets. If you select Group, you will have to state to which group the changes shall be
written. The group drop down menu contains groups previously created in Server manager.

Client configuration create config job 3.jpg

If you select Custom machine targets, check the box in front of the machines you want to
update with the new settings.

Client configuration create config job 4.jpg

If you select All machines, all machines will be selected for update without any possibility of
further filtering.

Note!
Be careful when selecting target machines, especially when changing Price settings and Active
programs, as there is no verification that the new settings are compatible with the target
machines. Machine settings and Happy hour are not that critical, since they contain more of a
general type of settings that can be applied to any machine in most cases. It is recommended to
create suitable groups containing machines of the same Model and program set-up, and use
one of the machines in that group as a template when writing Configuration changes. Writing
changes to an incompatible machine, e.g. writing program changes or price settings from a
washer to a dryer, can create unexpected machine behavior, since only the program numbers
are used for program and option identification. If a program or option that is referred to in the
selected machine, does not exist in a target machine, it will be ignored by the target machine.
This may result in missing or wrong programs activated, or wrong price setting on a program.
During writing of Configuration changes the machine might enter Service mode for a short
while. This is completely normal, and the machine will revert to Idle mode when the action is
completed.

Options when creating write job

Since writing changes to machines can be performed only when machine is in Idle mode, it will
by default be made at the soonest possible occasion. This means that for a machine that is
running a program, the write job will be queued until the machine enters idle mode, while on a
machine already in idle, the write job will be performed immediately. However, by checking the
Show advanced job settings, you will have the possibility to schedule write jobs.

Client configuration create config job 5.jpg

In the drop down menu, you can select different time alternatives for the write job to be
performed.
Write as soon as possible (default): The write job will be performed at the soonest occasion
the machine enters idle mode.
Postpone to laundry close: The write job will be scheduled to be performed at the soonest
occasion the machine enters idle mode, after laundry is closed. Laundry closing time is defined
under Business hours in Server manager – Laundry information.

Client configuration create config job 7.jpg

Postpone to specified time: The write job will be scheduled to be performed at a time that you
define in the date and time fields. Also with this option writing will be performed only after
machine has entered idle mode.

Configuration jobs: This window shows all write jobs that have been created, finished jobs,
failed jobs and jobs waiting to be written. You will see certain information about the job, which
machines have been scheduled, which parameters were changed and the new value, user
name who initiated it, creation date, actual start date and finished date if it is finished, and status
of the job.

If a job failed or timed out, you can easily identify them and create a new configuration job.

You can abort a job as long as it is not finished and you can delete a job after it has finished.
Write jobs will be removed after the number of days set in Write job history.

See Write job timeout, Write job history and Write job max retries under Server manager –
System settings.

The Client application is not able to connect to the Server

If the log on window states Login failed it is most likely that you have entered the wrong user
name or password. If you have forgotten your credentials, contact the Server administrator who
can give you your username and set a new password of your choice.
If the log on window states Server not available it can be several reasons. Check that you
have internet connection on your Client PC, and that you have stated the correct Host or IP
address and Port setting under Server settings in Logon to LMIS server window. Check with the
Server administrator for correct settings.
Check also that the Server PC is up and running and has an internet connection. Make sure the
LMIS Server NT service is running. This can be verified and managed in the Server Manager
application under System Status.
If the log on window states Server busy, it is most likely that your Client application is outdated
and not compatible with the Server application. Make sure that you have the latest available
Client application installed.
