Week 3

Revolve Command:
The Revolve feature is created by revolving a sketched profile around an axis of revolution.
The angle and direction can be controlled independent of the sketch. CREATING A
REVOLVE FEATURE. The Revolve feature is very similar to the Extrude feature.
Creating the Revolved Base Feature:
 This model is a housing for a microphone. Because the housing is cylindrical, you can
create the housing as a revolved feature.
 Click New on the Standard toolbar and open a new part.
 Click Revolved Boss/Base on the Features tab.
 The Front, Top, and Right planes appear.
 Select the Front plane.
 The display changes so that the Front plane is facing you, and a sketch opens on the
Front plane.
1st drawing:
Selecting Rectangle:
First we will create a center rectangle of 10 metres at the top of rectangle we will select 3
point arc on its top of 110 degree

Centerline:
For defining axis of revolution we use centerline. After creating centre line we use smart
dimension for defining the parameters.
Revolve:
After that we will use revolve command by selecting centerline for axis of rotation of 360
degress for fully defining the object.

2nd Drawing:
The second drawing we are going to make using revolve cut command is mechanical shaft.
 First we use line command by giving length of 50 meters.
 Then for the parts of shaft we will use different lengths.
Radial Distance:
Each part or component of shaft will get different radial distance as shown the first
component will get 40 mm diameter the second will get 50 mm of diameter and the last will
get 85 mm of diameter.
Revolve Command:
After that revolve command will be uses by selecting centerline for axis of rotation and our 2d
sketch will be converted to circular 3d shaft we will give circular angle of 345 degrees to our
shaft.

3rd drawing:
The third drawing using revolve command is a cylindrical object the dimension be set
accordingly.
 After giving dimension central line will be drawn in this case central line will be
vertical parallel to cylindrical object.
 By selecting revolve command at an angle of 360 degrees our 2d sketch will be
converted into 3d.
