believe I am a suitable candidate for this role.
I am an experienced professional in the field of humanitarian work and development. I hold a master's degree in international
cooperation and humanitarian aid, as well as a bachelor's degree in water resources engineering. I have also obtained diplomas
in sociology, project management, and health sciences. In addition to my formal education, I have over 12 years of hands-on
field experience as a WaSH practitioner, specializing in humanitarian program design, planning, and leadership. I am CHS
certified and have received specialized training in information, education, and communication (IEC) and sociology, specifically
tailored for the WaSH sector. My expertise lies in promoting positive behavior through targeted interventions in social and
behavior change communication (SBCC) and risk communication and community engagement (RCCE).
Throughout my career, I have worked in various settings, including emergency, resilience, and development contexts. I have
provided WaSH support, shelter assistance, non-food items, and basic infrastructure construction for communities affected by
disasters, as well as for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees. I have held positions ranging from grassroots to
leadership and advisory roles in strategic WaSH portfolio management. Notable achievements include the development and
construction of water wells, springs, reservoirs, cattle troughs, and pipe networks with public taps. I have also designed and
overseen the construction of various types of latrines and other WaSH structures. In emergency situations, I have managed the
treatment of river water for over 100,000 refugees, including coagulation/flocculation and water trucking. I have demonstrated
expertise in water quality analysis and management at every stage.
I also have expertise in construction within the healthcare sector, particularly in enhancing healthcare quality. I have
successfully designed and overseen the construction of over 50 permanent and semi-permanent healthcare facilities, including
hospital blocks and WaSH facilities specifically designed for cholera and other outbreak responses. I have authored a
publication titled "Engineering WaSH & IPC in Healthcare Facilities for Effective Humanitarian Health & Nutrition
Interventions," drawing upon a variety of resources and my practical experience in WaSH construction and Infection Prevention
and Control (IPC) within healthcare facilities. Additionally, my contributions to enhancing IPC and WaSH services within Save
the Children interventions in healthcare facilities have been recognized, and I have received the Save the Children Global
Medical Award 2022 recognition certificate.
Over the past seven years, I have developed expertise in program design, fundraising, program implementation, monitoring,
evaluation, and reporting. I have collaborated with prestigious donors such as USAID (BHA, BPRM), UNOCHA, UNHCR,
GAC, ECHO, French MoFA, AICs, UNILEVER, IHA-GAC, FCDO, Irish Aid, GFFO, and various institutional and private
donors. In the past three consecutive years, I have successfully secured an average of $7.5 million in donor funds per year across
over 35 projects for various emergency responses. I have effectively managed these funds by leading and deploying over 50
project teams.
I have extensive experience in humanitarian coordination and representation at national and sub-national levels, participating in
clusters and forums. In addition to representing my current employer in WaSH & ESNFI clusters at the national level, I am
member of the Ethiopian WaSH cluster Strategic Advisory group (SAG) and actively involved in key TWGs such as the
Ethiopian Cholera Task Force, the WaSH cluster assessment working group, and the Ethiopia National Institutional WaSH
Technical Working Groups.
In summary, I bring a wealth of experience and skills in program design and operations management, with a strong commitment
to integrity, professionalism, adherence to humanitarian principles, and addressing cross-cutting issues. My expertise
encompasses administrative and technical management, grant business/proposal development, budgeting, logistics, security and
team management, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation. I have a proven track record of independently planning and
reporting, as well as working effectively within teams, emphasizing results-based management and a dedication to quality and
meeting deadlines. Moreover, I possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, enabling me to effectively present
