Dear fellow candidates, good morning, I am Benedict, a former student of BACHA English Medium

School for the last decade, finished the CSC course at King’s College London – a public university in
London. I am humbly obliged for this privilege to share experiences and speak for the country where
I am currently settled and finished my higher studies from

Picture this: A pale sunny day with cotton-white clouds, a hazy-cool breeze, and a foggy fragrance,
you sitting leisurely on the bench of a lush green park sipping on a warm latte amidst some
chattering people on the busy streets upfront, or a street performance going across, perhaps a
children’s show in the playground or sounds of whistle from the field beside. Quite the poetic type I
know, but so many glimpses at a sight right? Who among you would not want to inhale such a
pleasant atmosphere?

Well yes, these are not everyday scenarios in London, but rather seemingly appealing to that of
congested buildings, blares of car horns and rickshaws, with noisy people crowded altogether in
narrow streets of Dhaka, often in residential areas may be beating the eardrums to spoil plenty
creative never-ending dreams in the dawn.

Ha, ha those days are now reminiscence of course after living and exploring this vibrant and
exhilarating royal environment and traditions where the history of legacy is built by palaces, kings,
and queens. The UK is like a living museum from the Tower of London to Buckingham Palace.

As we all know English Language --- a common worldwide communicative tool also possessed by the
English people. But, but, but…..my students here is the attraction --- the UK has an exceptional
charming English accent blended with unique expressions, style, and clarity that defines a gorgeous
persona. Some common examples would be ‘water’ pronounced as ‘woater’ or ‘’Tuesday’’ as
‘Chewsday’. This was one of the hooks that influenced my decisions regarding this magnificent place.

When it comes to lifestyle and entertainment, the UK has it all. There is never a dull moment, from
world-class theatres in London’s West End to iconic music festivals like Glastonbury along with the
Royal Opera House, Covent Garder in London. Some of your favorites like The Rolling Stones, Elton
John, Arctic Monkeys, and 1975 are some names that made this city famous. Football is a
cornerstone of British culture, with the English Premier League (EPL) consisting of clubs like
Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea drawing Global Fanbases with renowned top-class
players like Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Mohamed Salah, Casemiro, Virgil Van Dijk and many
more. Ah yes. Food --- certainly a delicious topic! The rich English cuisine with a diverse history is
shaped by centuries of cultural influences, trade, and agriculture. Perhaps one of the most iconic
English dishes, ‘fish and chips’ consists of the deep-fried battered fish served with thick-cut, deep-
fried potatoes accompanied by vinegar or tartar sauce. Another one I found utterly interesting and
yummy of course was the Afternoon Tea. A tradition that involves tea served with finger sandwiches,
scones with clotted cream and jam, and a selection of cakes and pastries, and as usual you have the
freedom to buy groceries from nearby shops at hand and make up your favorite delicacies unless you
can’t light up the stove!

Moreover, academic prospects highlight more of the UK’s majestic ingredients. The UK boasts a
prominent education system, home to esteemed institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge both
tops the global academic rankings. Although I study Computer Science at the King’s College London
as I mentioned earlier. Apart from this, my eager students, like this university offer various study
fields starting from IT, Cyber-Security, Pharmacology, Psychology, and many more. The UK education
system places a strong emphasis on independent learning, and critical thinking, involving pupils in
doing in-depth research, developing problem-solving and communication skills, and enhancing
creativity. Students are also encouraged to engage in extracurricular activities like sports, arts, music,
drama, volunteering, etc. Most of Bangladesh's education systems are based on old-school methods
with more concentration on memorization or rote learning and extracurricular activities are limited
in scope and vary by institution mostly due to a lack of essential service and organizing a proper
schedule yet by this time a lot of improvements and regulations are catching our site after all nothing
stays at a point forever either it upgrades or degrades.

In addition, for international students, UK universities serve with the Tier 4 (General) Student Visa
which is a specific type of visa that allows them to study in the UK at the undergraduate level or
postgraduate level. It often permits limited work rights such as part-time work. It allowed us (us
meaning my classmates) to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time on
vacations. Furthermore, many universities have on-campus job opportunities whereby these jobs
including roles in the library, student services, or even research positions within your field of study.
The minimum wage in the UK for 18–23-year-olds is about £6 to £10 per hour. As much as I have
dealt with daily life here the combined monthly expenses of tuition fees, accommodation, food,
transportation, books and supplies, health insurance, and other miscellaneous expenses range from
£1800 to £2000. All of this needed patience to process still all went well as time passed on.

What else was there? Oh, health care! I almost forgot. The healthcare manner in the UK is one of the
best in the world, I believe. Did not have to stand in through myriads of processes and stand or sit for
huge serials back in Dhaka when I used to go to the eye hospital just for a checkup or so. Here
everything is serenely well-organized, and systemically processed following strict guidelines. It is
ranked as the 5th best healthcare structure in the world by the World Health Organization (WHO). The
National Health Service (NHS) is the UK’s health care system, publicly funded by the UK government.
It starts as free. The UK has also partnered with the European Economic Area (EEA) countries,
including Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. It is accessible to anyone despite their nationalities
since it is a universal health care system. You just need to have very affordable health insurance.

As we look at the road infrastructure of the UK it inherits a well-developed transportation system

featuring various modes of travel. Roads and highways form extensive networks, with driving on the
left side of the road. Public transport includes buses, trams and trains. The conditions inside are
fancy, calm, and free, especially during working hours when most work from home yet never like the
moving electrons in a metal as the people in local buses of Dhaka. The UK follows a methodical traffic
system with strict adherence to road rules and safety regulations along with speed cameras. London,
in particular, has a congestion charge zone aimed at reducing traffic congestion and encouraging the
use of public transport. That reminds me of those busy days in Dhaka when people struggled to step
on running buses and squash in or another day counting numerous minutes in the traffic meter
waiting enthusiastically and impatiently for when to reach the destination.

UK’s climate is characterized by a temperate maritime influence from the North Atlantic Ocean and
the Gulf Stream. Winters are mild, summers are relatively cool. Rainfall is evenly distributed
throughout the year. Nevertheless, Bangladesh is gifted with tropical monsoons with various
seasons. Unfortunately, the temperature is not as favorable as it is in the equatorial region also
currently going through diverse climate changes due to global warming as usual defined by a high
pollution index the more astonishing fact is the recent heavy rainfall and thunderstorms at the end of
September which created a stream of river throughout Dhaka. However, it is the way of nature's
most exploited human activities making such unconditional climate changes annoying and an
interruption in daily life.

Even though Bangladesh is unbeatable in terms of its rich cultural heritage and variety of traditions
some of them I often miss like the Bengali New Year and the Bengali Cuisine. However dear
candidates we can continue to talk about different aspects of the UK, but nothing is without flaws.
Many of you may find the situation incompatible and difficult to adapt to your culture and
surroundings, and also find living expenses costly or some of the immigration prospects here which
are intertwined with complexities. Still, if you want to strive, with perseverance and patience you can
cope with it. Apart from the UK, there are various profound places like Canada, the USA, Australia,
and many more about which we can indulge in deep discussions, debate, and research. Well since I
had an elegant, thriving, and cozy experience here it is a warm welcome to all of you people to join
me.

To wrap up this prolonged speech, the ravishing English accent immersed with a touch of lively
culture, traditions, and strong infrastructure integrated with a well-structured education system,
cherishing healthcare has led me to the path of this journey in the UK in which path I would suggest
all of you to walk through. At the end of the day based on all of the fundamental factors, dear
students, you all have the right to choose any place in your dreamland. Thank you for your tolerating
patience and polite cooperation towards my words.
