Final Project - Humanoid Robot

Aaron Basiletti
Research

As an avid gamer and a fan of sci-fi media, I find myself drawn to humanoid,
inorganic characters and creations, such as robots or androids. Their designs fascinate me,
with how they are clearly humanistic, yet alien and instill a sense of “other.” I wanted to try
my hand at creating a one-eyed humanoid robot. I found that to create ones akin to the
style I had in my head, there had to be real-life believability to the design, some
exaggerated proportions, a recognizable silhouette/basic shape, and details/extrusions to
the basic shapes of parts to add a sense of complexity.

Titanfall-Related Content

Titanfall is one of my favorite game franchises currently, and the design of the robotic
characters was the main source of inspiration for this project. Titan characters (bottom
right) tend to preclude having a genuine head, in favor of a singular “eye” assembly in their
torso. I opted for a more human design, such as the other references.

Other Content

Some other references I chose, for their intriguing design elements and shapes. I knew I
wanted to give my character feet akin to the prosthetic running “blades” pictured, as well.

Unfortunately, my chosen white metal texture was hard to make out in the un-lit view.
