Everyone steps confused when they are in a situation where they should to choose between
working in a small company or a huge company. Each one of these options gives the
employee the access to a lot of opportunities as well as obstacles and weaknesses.
In one hand, being a part of a large company will allow you living an outstanding experience
in your professional career, because these huge companies are actually huge because of its
employees, so it’s going to be shinny in your CV. These companies are usually willing to
provide the best working environment because they believe in human resources especially
when these companies are managed by visionary leaders. However, these companies focus
on their productivity and the optimization of its resources including human resources which
is going to offer these employees the opportunity to attend professional trainings more
often. In fact, huge businesses are golden opportunities specially for those who don’t have a
long professional career and allow them to feel secure when they think about their work life
because we don’t see huge company get bankrupt every day. In contrast, these companies
may be also a discouraging experience for some employees. The ones who don’t believe in
lifetime learning specially at work because of their zone of comfort whereas the
environment is unstable and always changing. Also, working in a big company may not allow
you to reach your full potential because it’s crowded with qualified employees so that the
competition is high.
In my opinion, working in a large company depends on the employee’s mindset and his
capacities to explore more continuously and grow faster.
In the other hand, working in a small company could be challenging too. You got to rise the
bar higher during all your work hours, because if you choose to work in a small business,
there is nothing better than being one of the builders of this business but it doesn’t mean it
isn’t risky, because you provide yourself food from a wage taken from a fragile company, you
won’t feel secure and it will affects you mentally; you got to be faithful during this journey
because you won’t see its fruits only after hard work and it will change your personality and
become more self-confident especially after the success of that small business you work for.
Small companies give you the opportunity to explore your hidden talents but this experience
won’t be very great looking experience in your resume. Finally, small companies don’t invest
huge amounts on resources development because of lack of cash flow so you won’t be lucky
enough to enjoy various advantages.
To conclude this topic, for me personally, I would rather work for a large company because
of its advantages and its affection on my career for the long term.
