Mayor’s Statement on Transactional Activity in CCG Revenue


Department
At last week’s council mee ng, the Internal Auditor for the Columbus Consolidated Government
indicated that $45.1M of unprocessed transac onal ac vity “has not been banked”. As Mayor, I
requested that Deputy City Manager Pam Hodge and Finance Director Angelica Alexander
review the suppor ng documenta on of the Internal Auditor and verify whether the amounts
contained in the supplemental a achment had, in fact, been deposited into city accounts. As a
result of this request, I have been informed by Deputy City Manager Hodge that the
transac onal ac vity iden fied by the Internal Auditor has been deposited into city accounts as
evidenced by bank statements, deposit slips and cancelled checks. DCM Hodge further clarified
that while a small percentage of businesses have yet to receive their city license, payments
received have been deposited into city accounts.

As Mayor, it is my job to assure ci zens that payments made have been properly deposited into
city accounts, that is what has happened in this case.

There are s ll ongoing studies into how our Revenue Department can improve processes. We
will always welcome the opportunity to improve all city departments so that we may best
service the people of Columbus, Georgia.
