Monthly Charge for December 2023

THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD (Psalm 65:11)

"Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness"

It is a new month. It is not just an ordinary month but;

1. The twelfth and last month of the year
2. The month which is generally chosen to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace- the Lord
Jesus Christ, and
3. The month which links us to the New Year

We have every reason to appreciate God for keeping us and bringing us thus far.
Psalms 65:11 is one of the psalms of king David. It is majorly a psalm of praise and thanksgiving
to God for what He has done. David declared that praise awaits our God (vs 1) in Zion. Why?
The reason is because;
1. He answers our prayers (vs 2, 5)
2. He purged us of our sins (vs 3)
3. He chose us to approach him and gives us satisfaction with his goodness (vs 4).
What could have led David into the lyrics of this song?
David must have examined his life and saw the goodness of the Lord. He thought of how God
helped him during different seasons. God fought his enemies for him. He crowned the year
with his goodness (praises & thanksgiving). By this, David presented to us that in spite of the
negative happenings in and around us, unpleasant situations in our land, the near famine
situation by the hands of the wicked, the loss of loved ones, the scarcity of funds, the epidemic
and or pandemic, the effect of the removal of subsidy and the general unpleasant global
economy, we have reasons to appreciate God for his goodness.

1
What are the evidences of his goodness towards us?
1. We are counted among the living
2. The paths of the lord dropped fatness (vs 11b). This is evidenced by the proceeds of the
land (things that we planted or by natural dispersion grew up for our harvest and
consumption (vs 12-13)
4. The fulfillment of his promise of seed and harvest seasons (read gen. 8:22)
4. Men may be wicked in controlling the resources of the land but our God commanded the
valleys to be covered with corn (vs 13)
By this song, David presented God as being gracious, mighty and great Provider. By psalm
65:11, david charges us to
1. Look inwards in the course of the year and see the goodness of the lord. He is good and his
mercies endure forever. Be encouraged to declare the praises of the lord.
2. To behold the Lord’s doings. See what he has done already. He has crowned the year with
goodness yet the year is not over.
3. Take his declaration as what God did and what only God can do in bringing an end to
dryness (of all forms)
4. Take this declaration prophetically.
- the goodness of the lord will locate you
- you will be re-positioned to get located for his goodness
- the paths of the lord will drop fatness upon the pastures of your wilderness
- there shall be rejoicing concerning you on all sides
- your pastures shall be filled with flocks
- your valleys shall be filled with corn.
In conclusion, our God remains committed to doing what only him can do, such as, to
terminate dryness and by his goodness bring fatness even in abundance. Be encouraged to
declare his praise and give him thanks.

Happy new month and have a new month of his goodness and outpouring of his
fatness in Jesus’ name.
Your brother,
‘Sola Asa
