Present perfect tense

What is present perfect tense?

Present perfect tense is used to describe


an action that happened in the past, but
still connected in the present.
rules:
S + Has/Have + V3 + O/C
Form of present perfect tense
Subject Helping Verb V3 (Past Participle)

I watched
you Have left
They gone
We eaten
slept
He bought
She Has walked
It
Usage: To describe experiences,
unfinished actions, and past actions with
present relevance
Examples:
I have visited Paris
(S) (have) (V3) (O)

She has lived here for five years


(S) (has) (V3) (C)
For the first example, it implies that the speaker
has been to Paris at some point in their life and
it is still relevant to their present experiences.

For the second example, it implies that the


speaker has lived there since 5 years ago and
she still lives there now.

Complement is for stating ‘where’ and


‘when’ the action is taken
Present perfect tense in negative form
Use 'have/has not + past participle' to form negative
sentences in present perfect tense.
Example: I have not finished my homework yet.
Usage: Present perfect negative sentences express
actions that have not happened or completed.
Example :
I haven’t read this book

You haven’t studied English yet

Aaron has already taken the bag
