Embodied spirit

Who owns my body?

You own your body. So whatever you do with your body you are the one accountable in it.
Remember , you may do everything you want to do, but you cannot choose the consequences

Matthew 7:12
“so whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the law and the
Prophets.

Does my body is an instrument?

It is not an instrument use for your own pleasure. But it is an instrument to worship God.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy spirit, who is in you, whom you have
received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your
bodies.

- The point of convergence between the material and spiritual entities.
We cant talk of anything without the union of body and souls. Also we cannot talk of anything without
the union of: Matter and Form

It also exposes us to a through and deeper understanding of our selves as a unique creature united
by body and soul

Plato’s philosophy about embodied spirit

Humans are seen in the metaphysical dichotomy
Dichotomy = there is an enherent contradiction between the body and the soul
The human body is = mutable, destructible, material
Soul = immaterial, immutable, indestructible

In the context of the nature of the human person:

- Body existence
- Souls existence
Whereas, dependent is the soul and independent is the body.
The soul existed prior to the body
“ the gods made the soul prior to the body and more venerable in birth and excellence to the body’s
mistress and gover nor”
The contention above made plato conclude that the human person is just a soul using a body
Therefore human body is divided in to: rational soul is located at brain , spiritual soul , apetitive soul
Apetitive soul derives the human person to experience: thirst, hunger and other physical wants
Spiritual soul drives the human person to experience: abomination, anger and other emotional feelings
Rational soul drives the human person to experience: think, reflect and analyze, comprehend
