Context/Description of Goals:
The ensemble I am doing this project for is a 5-piece rock band. This band would consist
of two electric guitars, one electric bass, keyboard, drums, one lead vocalist, and two backup
vocalists. One person would double guitar and lead vocals, one person would double guitar and
backup vocals, and one person would double electric bass and backup vocals. Each person in the
band would need a monitor. Each vocalist would need a dynamic microphone, and each electric
guitar and bass guitar would need an amplifier with a dynamic mic. The keyboard will need two
D.I. boxes to convert the left and right signals from line level to mic level signals.
The venue would be The Attic in the West Building of Gettysburg College’s campus.
This space accommodates approximately 450 people, and the stage is approximately 16 x 20
feet. I want the sound to fill the room, but not be so loud that it’s unbearable to the audience. I’m
also aiming to get a good balance between all instruments, with the hope that the drums don’t
overpower everything else too much.
