SERVICING
CONTENTS
SUB-CHAPTER SUBJECT
12-00 SERVICING
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- Tank defuelling is carried out disconnecting the supply hose to the corresponding engine,
connect the supply line to a suitable container and operate the tank booster pump.
- When defuelling a fuel tank 228 kg of fuel remains in the other tank.
- When defuelling is complete, 1.5 thru 2.0 + of fuel remains in each tank. To drain
completely the tank it's required to operate the water drain valve.
- Before tank refuel it's required to drain the water from the tank operating the water drain
valve switch (a container must be put below the sump).
GENERAL INFORMATION
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- The radio hazard is dangerous. Make sure you get the necessary radio-hazard safety
precautions.
- Make sure that all equipment ground cables are connected to the applicable earth point of
the helicopter.
LUBRICANT
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- The oil must be removed immediately from the painted surfaces because can cause damage
to the paint.
- The transmissions oil filler cap is locked if you don't see the circumferential red mark on it.
- The MGB oil is drained using a tool connected to the coupling located in front of the MGB.
Suction is provided by a pump.
- The IGB/TGB oil is drained using a tool connected to the chip detector valve (chip detector
must be removed).
- Engine oil draining is achieved using a pan and removing drain hoses below engine
accessory gearbox.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Transmissions:
- MGB maximum oil content: 19 liters (20.1 US quarts)
- 1GBmaximum oil content: 0.9 liters (0.95 US quarts)
- TGB maximum oil content: 1.5 liters (1.6 US quarts)
- Authorized transmission oil: MIL-PRF-23699
(i.e. BP Turbo Oil 2380)
Engine:
- Engine maximum oil content (mark MAX): 8 liters (8.45USquarts)
- Engine minimum oil content (mark MIN): 5.8 liters (6.12 US quarts)
- Authorized engine oil: Refer to PWC Maintenance
Manual
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- The oil is a dangerous material. Make sure that you know all the safety precautions and
first aid instructions for the oil.
- The transmissions and engine components are hot after the engine stops. The hot
components can cause injury to personnel.
HYDRAULIC
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- Make sure that the parking brake is released before gravity refilling the wheel brake
reservoir.
- In order to fill the PCM reservoir, disconnect reservoir drain hose and connect a transparent
tube to monitor air bubbles in the oil when the bleed valve is open.
- Make sure that the rotor brake is released before draining rotor brake reservoir.
GENERAL INFORMATION
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- The hydraulic fluid is a dangerous material. Make sure that you know all the safety
precautions and first aid instructions for the hydraulic fluid.
- Remove all hydraulic fluid from painted surfaces immediately because can cause damage to
the paint.
SCHEDULED SERVICING
LANDING GEARS
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- Landing gear temperature must become stable before filling shock absorbers with nitrogen.
- Helicopter must be lifted on jacks with the landing gears fully extended before shock
absorbers filling with nitrogen.
- Grease the nose landing gear collar until clean grease flows out from the top or bottom
surface according to the grease nipple used.
- Grease the main landing gear pin until clean grease flows out from the outboard or the
inboard pivot point of the trailing arm according to the grease nipple used.
GENERAL INFORMATION
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- The materials that follow are dangerous. Make sure that you know all the safety
precautions and first aid instructions for these materials:
- Cleaning solvent
- Grease
- When filling the tires make sure that all the equipment and the tools are clean. Hydraulic
fluid, oil, dirt or grease can cause an explosion.
- Make sure that all the pressure gauges on the tire inflation rig are serviceable. Read the
label on the pressure gauges and make sure that the test date is satisfactory. Make sure that
you do not inflate the tires too much. If you do not obey this instruction you can cause an
explosion and possibly cause an injury to persons.
- Inflate the tire slowly and with a continuous increase in pressure until the tire is at the
correct pressure. It is dangerous to inflate the tire too quickly as this can cause an
explosion.
MAIN ROTOR
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- Grease the main rotor swashplate until clean grease flows out of the bearing seals on either
the top and bottom sides of the duplex bearing. Be careful when greasing the duplex
bearing to not apply an excessive pressure to prevent damage to the rubber seal of the
duplex bearing.
- After greasing the main rotor swashplate, visually examine with the mirror the top and
bottom surfaces of the duplex bearing to make sure that metal rings and rubber seals are in
position.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- The materials that follow are dangerous. Make sure that you know all the safety
precautions and first aid instructions for these materials:
- Cleaning solvent
- Grease
GENERAL
MAINTENANCE INFORMATION
- The pressure / return adapter couplings are used when connecting the hydraulic test bench
to the PCM with the forward sliding fairing open (not removed) to prevent interference
with pressure / return lines.
