Burn Phases

Phase of Burn Recovery Action

Emergent surgery, including skin grafts, may be required for deep burns
(within 72 hours after injury) intravenous hydration needed to hydrate client and skin

Acute infection control required due to open wound


(72 hours after injury until wound closure)

Rehabilitation closure of wound to aid healing


(from wound closure until function is client requires intervention to reach optimal level of functioning
restored)
