Eagle Creek Elementary School Analysis Paper

The Eagle Creek neighborhood has about 16,000 residents living in houses that cost
about 100K-5M. Eagle Creek is about 5,000 acres of open space where people can enjoy fishing,
hiking, and the outdoors. Comparing these prices of houses to another town, Speedway, the
houses cost about 17K-600K. Considering the neighborhood, Eagle Creek does have some
religious centers but not many. To name a few, there's Life Church Eagle Creek Campus which is
a food distribution center. There’s a community church. In the local community, there are
apartment complexes for people's convenience. At the Park at Eagle Creek apartments, they offer
amenities such as the location. These apartments are near downtown Indianapolis where there are
many restaurants, museums, concerts, and more. There are little towns near Eagle Creek such as
Speedway, Broad Ripple, etc. There are many great little shops people can go to. In Eagle Creek,
there are many real estate properties where there are many great agents to talk to.
Some non-profit organizations in Eagle Creek are the Salvation Army Eagle Creek,
Youth Empowerment Centers of America Incorporated, Eagle Creek Community Church, Boys
II Men, and many more. Salvation Army Eagle Creek is an international movement and is
motivated by the love of God. Their mission is “to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet
human needs in His name without discrimination”. Youth Empowerment Centers help keep
America’s children empowered. Their vision is to lead positivity and help children achieve their
goals. Eagle Creek Community Church’s vision is to help people enter into a personal
relationship with Jesus Christ and become His devoted followers. Boys II Men is the
development of adolescent boys in a safe and exciting team environment by promoting civic
engagement, personal responsibility, positive relationships, respect for women, and a lifelong
appreciation for learning. The only two schools in Eagle Creek are The Oaks Academy and
Eagle Creek Elementary School. The Oaks Academy is a private school that has about 1,000
students. The school’s mission is to prepare students to succeed in a religious secondary
education program and to demonstrate spiritual, social, and emotional maturity. Eagle Creek
Elementary is a public school that has 490 students. Their mission is to create a diverse,
innovative learning environment by opening doors of opportunity for students to achieve their
maximum potential. Eagle Creek has a library called Eagle and it is located two and a half miles
away from Eagle Creek Elementary School. The library is available to all residents of the library
district without any discrimination. The library’s mission is to to enrich everyone and strengthen
the community by inspiring longlife learning. The library’s vision is to be a center of knowledge,
community life, and innovation for Indianapolis This library provides public reservations for
meeting spaces and study rooms inside the library. When reserving a room, it tells the person the
amenities of the room to ensure that the room has what the person needs.
Eagle Creek Elementary School’s State grade is a B which I think is good for a public school that
has less than 500 students. The school’s test scores are good but I think that they could be better.
For example, English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies is in the low
50%. The only proficiency at the school that is very good is Reading which has a 90%. I think
that there can be an opportunity for the students to improve their test scores for Social Studies
since it is the lowest test score which is 37.2% according to the Indiana Department of
Education. Eagle Creek Elementary School improvement plan is on the Indiana Department of
Education. The school’s student population is 491 and the demographics is mostly Black/African
American which is 68.4%, 1.0% of Asians, 12.0% of Hispanics, 6.7% of Multiracial, and 11.8%
of White. Some of the most popular extra curricular activities that Eagle Creek Elementary offers
are art club, book/reading club, gardening, and student council/government. The school doesn't
offer IB, AP, Dual Credit, Early College, HA, etc since it is an elementary school.
According to the Indiana Department of Education, Eagle Creek Elementary’s total expenditures
is $5,107,964.08. Breaking it down, the instructional expenditures is 61.4%, instructional shared
expenditures is 10.3%, other instructional expenditures is 6.9%, operational expenditures is
4.7%, and lastly operational shared expenditures is 16.8%. According to Donors Choice, 80% of
students receive free or reduced price lunch. Eagle Creek Elementary has a total of 53 full time
teachers and they get paid $58,696.
After considering the mission statement of Eagle Creek Elementary, I think it does set up a
purpose for the students since the school’s diversity is full of many different students. On the
school’s website, in the mission statement it states that the school’s staff works hard to provide a
world class education for all the students. The mission statement connects to the community
because it is one of the best communities to live in. According to Niche.com, Eagle Creek is
number 16 of 80 for best neighborhoods to raise a family in Indianapolis. Eagle Creek is also
number 17 of 80 for most diverse neighborhoods in Indianapolis.
