Case 1.

The ethical issue that can be derive from the facts above is War as it involves killing,
torture and harassment amongst the people, as what the Japanese done in the facts above.
War is a state of armed conflict between different nations or different groups in a nation. War
in terms of killing other races and its people just to take the pride of its own country and race
from being great and ahead from others. We have this what we call just war theory which
attempts to identify the circumstances under which a war would be just. This theory consists of
two parts. While just war theory confesses that killing is, in its general sense, morally improper,
it also tries to characterize conditions in which killing of other’s becomes a moral obligation. For
example, army in one country are responsible to kill rebel people for them to protect their
homeland and well its their obligation, and on the other side killing people is morally improper
or unethical as it contradicts the law of God. Well for me war is connected with the word killing
and it becomes unethical as we human doesn’t have the right to take human lives as we are just
human and we have no power with that, it also contradicts with the law of God about not to kill
or harm others and also hinders us to be freed from chaos and harmful events. From a letter
written, states that warfare is the ultimate tragedy of disunity among nations where no
international authority exists powerful enough to restrain them from pursuing their own limited
interests.
This issue is happening around the world right now and also here in Philippines
especially in Mindanao where rebellion is strong and is evident, where we can hear bombs and
guns, and we can really question what about the civilian what happens to them, what about
those children who doesn’t even know what is happening and now is full of fear and trauma, its
this reality that government maybe don’t even think or doesn’t even mind? It’s a war between
government and those people who won’t follow government, its just bring so much distress
and fear and we don’t know how to end this because it’s just a matter of revenge and pride
every time. And to think about Afghanistan where government was being defeated by the rebel
group and was the one who will lead the country and it’s the same question again like what
about the people, the children and the women, how will they be able to survive in that kind of
government?
Therefore, war is an issue that is happening in reality, that brings disunity, fear and
trauma towards people it involves killing and harassment. There’s a letter from the Baha’I
writings that states, the root causes of the war will not be eliminated by the banning of nuclear
weapons or similar weapons of mass destruction. Peace is not just the elimination of war. There
are other obstacles in the path of peace as well, such as prejudices- prejudices of race,
nationality, language, sex, religion- that need to be eliminated through moral and spiritual
education as well as through consultation in solving the world’s problems, followed by
concerted social action
