Economic Services

It was severely impacted by the fallout from Mount Pinatubo's eruption in 1991,
as it was home to the former Clark Air Base (formerly the largest US military base
outside of the continental US). At the time, Angeles' economy was primarily reliant on its
American basis.
The former US base was turned into the Clark Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) in
1993, and the cleanup and removal of volcanic ash deposits began. Today, Angeles and
Clark served as the Philippines' business, industry, aviation, and tourism hubs, as well as
the Central Luzon leisure, fitness, entertainment, and gaming center.
Angeles is home to a booming technological sector. Tourism and casinos are also
important parts of its economy. Fields Avenue is the center of Angeles' nightlife
business. Because of its closeness to an international airport in Clark Freeport, Angeles
attracts visitors all year.
The Angeles city administration rebranded the Fields Avenue tourism belt as a
high-end destination in the 2000s, with excellent restaurants, luxury hotels, and casinos.
The development of roads like the Subic–Clark–Tarlac Expressway has boosted trade and
transportation. The project links Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, and Tarlac's industrial,
transportation, and business areas. The project is critical for Central Luzon's growth.
Rattan furniture, coconuts, and charcoal briquettes are among the city's minor
businesses. Handicrafts, metal crafts, toys, housewares, and clothes are among the
numerous growing export industries. Industrial districts include the Angeles Livelihood
Village and the Angeles City Industrial Estate, in addition to the Clark Freeport Zone.
e-Telecare, CyberCity, Sutherland, and IRMC are among the call centers that are
present. Other IT-related industries in the United States also employ a large number of
people. SM City Clark, Robinsons Angeles, Jenra Grand Mall, Nepo Mall, Saver's Mall,
and the Marquee Mall, all located near City Hall, helped to boost the city's economy.
Many restaurants can be found in Angeles City, most of them are close malls and
especially in Nepo Quad, which was recently rebuilt to meet the increased demands of
the people.
