Subject: Computers and Your Health

Here are some guidelines for making your daily interactions with micros much easier and more
comfortable.

Your keyboard, your screen, and any papers you’re working on should be about equal distances
from your eyes. This also means that you may need to put a manual or some other
documentation on the desktop-not your lap.

Ideally, the screen should be about 20 degrees below your line of sight. Most of the time you
want to be able to look directly ahead with your head fully upright, your eyes level with the top
of the display, or slightly above it.

The keyboard, researchers say, should be about 26 inches from the floor, not 28 inches, which is
common to most desktops. This is about the height when your wrists and forearms are about
parallel to the floor when you type. Lights in your office or workspace need to be placed either
at right angles to windows or facing away and certainly far enough away so that there’s no
reflection. Also, clean your screen regularly because static electricity attracts dust.

I hope these suggestions will help you make your jobs easier.

Subject: Software Buying

Don’t buy software without trying it first. Good vendors will arrange a trial demonstration for
you. It is reasonable to ask for one. It is also reasonable to ask for the names of other
organizations already pursuing the kind of software you are considering. It is worth the effort to
solicit a few options. You will find that the computer users’ world is very friendly, rather than
the old CB radio world.

Subject: Fundraiser Drive for Children’s Home

Thank you for your excellent reports on the Children's Home. All of you did a great job, and I
know now that I made an excellent decision in asking each of you to help me with this project.

It is good to know that the entire community supported the drive and that we went over our
goal. Be sure to turn in all your collections by the 15th so that we can close the books on this
project by the end of the month.

Once again, thank you for all your hard work. I hope we can be as successful in next year’s
event. See you at the next campaign party.
