Draw a bar model to help you find the answer to each ques�on.

1. The sum of two numbers is 54 and their difference is 28. What are the two numbers?

2. Clarissa and Jenny have 275 beads in total. Jenny has 53 more beads than Clarissa. How many
beads do they each have?

3. When you add two numbers together you get 73, and when you subtract one of the numbers from
the other you get 21. What are the two numbers?

4. A farm has 124 cows and chickens. There are 54 more chickens than cows. How many chickens are
there?

5. A market has 121 papayas and mangoes. There are 17 fewer papayas than mangoes. How many of
each type of fruit are there?
6. A bakery sells bread rolls and cakes. Altogether there are 98 products. There are 70 fewer cakes
than bread rolls. How many of each type are there?

7. A garden has roses and tulips. There are 60 flowers altogether. If you subtract the number of roses
from the number of tulips you get 12. How many of each kind of flower are there?

pencils than green pencils and 12 more red pencils than green pencils. How many pencils of each
colour are there?
