Q.1.

In parallelogram ABCD, two points P and Q are taken on diagonal BD such that DP = BQ
(see Fig. 8.20). Show that:
(i) ΔAPD ≅ ΔCQB
(ii) AP = CQ
(iii) ΔAQB ≅ ΔCPD
(iv) AQ = CP
(v) APCQ is a parallelogram
Q.2. ABCD is a parallelogram and AP and CQ are perpendiculars from vertices A and C on
diagonal BD (see Fig. 8.21). Show that
(i) ΔAPB ≅ ΔCQD
(ii) AP = CQ

Q.3. In a parallelogram ABCD, E and F are the mid-points of sides AB and CD, respectively (see
Fig. 8.31). Show that the line segments AF and EC trisect the diagonal BD.

Q.4. There is a slide in a park. One of its side walls has been painted in some colour with a
message “KEEP THE PARK GREEN AND CLEAN” (see Fig. 12.10 ). If the sides of the wall are 15
m, 11 m and 6 m, find the area painted in colour.
Q.5. If two equal chords of a circle intersect within the circle, prove that the line joining the point
of intersection to the centre makes equal angles with the chords.

Q.6. State and prove the mid-pont theorem.

Q.7. Two chords AB and CD of lengths 5 cm and 11 cm respectively of a circle are parallel to each
other and are on opposite sides of its centre. If the distance between AB and CD is 6, find the
radius of the circle.
