IKIGAI

WHAT IS IKIGAI?

Ikigai is a Japanese term that meaning "cause for existence." In Japanese, 'iki' signifies 'life,' while
'gai' denotes value or worth. Your ikigai is your life mission or happiness. It's what makes you happy
and motivates you to get out of bed every day.

It's worth noting that, although traditional Japanese philosophy focuses on achieving your joy,
western interpretations have utilized ikigai to locate your dream job.

The Westernised version of ikigai says you’ve found your dream career when your career includes
these four qualities:

 What you love

 What you’re good at
 What you can be paid for
 What the world needs

WHAT I LOVE?

What do you enjoy? This realm comprises everything we do or experience in life that offers us the
most joy and makes us feel the most alive and satisfied. In this sense, we could like sailing,
composing poetry, rock climbing, singing in a rock band, reading historical books, spending time with
friends, and so on. What matters is that we give ourselves permission to think carefully about what
we love, without regard for whether we are excellent at it, if the world needs it, or whether we can
get paid to do it. What we adore is the most mundane behavior. For instance, I enjoy spending time
with my friends. To interact with others. Play some music. Watch movies. Read a book. Play some
basketball.

WHAT I AM GOOD AT?

This sector comprises whatever you are exceptionally skilled at, such as skills you've mastered,
interests you've pursued, abilities you've demonstrated since childhood, and so on. You could be
skilled at playing the piano, empathizing, public speaking, athletics, brain surgery, or painting
portraits. This category includes talents or abilities, regardless of whether you are passionate about
them, if the world needs them, or if you can be compensated for them. This was likewise a simple
question to answer. because I have abilities and things that I am good at. I'm a good basketball
player. I'm a good dictator. I am fluent in three languages. And I'm much better at these things.

WHAT I CAN BE PAID FOR?

This dimension of the graphic also refers to the world or society as a whole since it involves what
someone else is ready to pay you for or "what the market will bear." You may be incredibly skilled at
rock climbing or writing poetry, but this does not necessarily imply that you can be compensated for
it. The ability to get compensated for your hobbies or skills is determined by circumstances such as
the status of the economy, the demand for your passions/talents, and so on. But I gave it some
thought. I wondered whether I could get money from my skills or hobbies. Yes, I replied.

WHAT IS MY WORLD NEEDS?

Our survival and wellbeing are dependent on biodiversity (the diversity of life on Earth). A healthy
planet produces the air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, and the medications we
take.

Our globe, however, and the diversity of species it sustains, are under assault. Deforestation,
pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, marsh draining, climate change, globalization, and other
modern-day forces are eliminating species and wreaking havoc on ecosystems at an unprecedented
rate.

As we hurt the environment, we also affect our own health. Humans are susceptible in the same way
that other animals are.

We all have a role to play. Its implementation begins with the protection of our natural resources
and careful consumption. Ultimately, there is only one Earth, and there are more than 7 billion of us
who depend on its precious resources.
