correct answer to each of the following questions.
Apples are one of the healthiest foods you can eat every day. A traditional American proverbs states:
‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’. But it does not specifically say anything about the best time
of day to eat apples. It is generally believed that eating an apple in the morning is good for people,
but eating an apple in the evening is like eating poison.
There is actually a scientific reason behind this belief. One benefit of apples is that they are a
favourite source of fructose, which is a natural form of sugar that gives you a big boost of energy.
The energy you get from an apple is longer lasting than that provided by a cup of coffee. Clearly, this
is something most people would rather experience in the morning than right before bedtime.
Apples also contain high levels of pectin, a kind of dietary fiber. Fiber stimulates bowel
movements, which help maintain the health of your digestive system. But if you eat an apple shortly
before going to bed, this can cause problems. While you are asleep, your bowels can fill up with gas,
making you feel bloated and uncomfortable. You may also wake up several times to use the
bathroom, which will prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep.
Other health benefits of apple come from flavonoids, beta carotene, and B vitamins. Flavonoids
are the materials that gives flowers and fruits their bright colours such as the deep red of apples.
When eaten, flavonoids can decrease your risk of heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses.

Sometimes mail arrives at the post office, and it is impossible to deliver the mail. Perhaps there is an
inadequate or illegible address and no return address. The post office can not just throw this mail
away, so this become ‘dead mail’. This ‘dead mail’ is sent to one of the U.S. Postal Service’s dead
mail offices in Atlanta, New York, Philadelphia, St. Paul or San Francisco. Seventy-five million
pieces of mail can end up in the dead mail office in one year.
The staff of the dead mail offices have a variety of ways to deal with all of these pieces of dead
mail. First of all, they look for clues that can help them deliver the mail; they open packages in the
hope that something inside will show where the package came from or is going to. Dead mail will
also be listed on a computer so that people can call in and check to see if a missing item is there.
However, all of this mail cannot simply be stored forever; there is just too much of it. When a lot
of mail has piled up, the dead mail offices hold public auctions. Every three months, the public is
invited in and bins containing items found in dead mail packages are sold to the highest bidder.
