Personal Achievement Reflection

The personal achievement I chose is when I got chosen to present British Columbia for baseball

in summer of 2022. I had to go to a long baseball camp as a tryout for the team BC coaches to

have a look at all of us. I clearly impressed the coaches so much that they picked me up to play

for team British Columbia. Unfortunately, after COVID-19 hit, the team BC baseball got ruined

and we only got to go to one tournament in Seattle. I’m proud of this achievement because I’ve

been playing baseball for over a decade now, ever since I was a 6-year-old boy, and 10 years

later I got to present my home province for baseball. It was the coolest thing I’ve ever been a

part of and I’m extremely proud of myself and thankful for my parents, coaches and teammates

for helping me get there. I gained a variety of skills on that tournament including social skills,

getting to know my teammates on such short notice without ever seeing them in real life

before. I also had to share a room in a hotel with them, which started out really awkward, but I

started conversations to get us all comfortable with each other. Some things I learned about

myself are that I am way more sociable and confident than I thought I was, and that it isn’t

annoying to start conversations, it’s appreciated. I also learned that I am overall more likeable

than I thought, which raised my confidence and made me feel great about myself. In the future,

my ultimate dream is to play professional baseball. This team tremendously helped me to give

me a good view about what the highest level of ball really feels like, teaching me what to expect

there, and teaching me how to maximize my chances to not only play but excel in professional

baseball.
