Uttarakhand

 Most of the state is divided into two


regions named Garhwal and Kumaon. It is
also home to Jaunsaries, Tibetan refugees,
Bokshas, among others. Uttarakhand has
a 'Pahari' culture. Folk dance, music and
festivals are a huge part of Uttarakhand
culture.
Pudducherry

 Since Puducherry was influenced by French, the


influence of French culture is evident on the
architecture, cuisine and lifestyle of the people
of Puducherry. Leather, woodcraft, pottery,
metalcraft are some of the popular handicrafts
in which the people of Puducherry are engaged.

• Under the Suryodaya Rozgar Yojana Phase-II, 6,000 families will be


provided with solar power plants with a capacity of three kilowatt.
• Rs 902 crore (US$ 109.46 million) has been allocated towards
Integrated development of small and medium towns.
• Rs 3,515 crore (US$ 426.77 million) has been allocated to
government secondary schools.
• Rs. 769 crore (US$ 93.37 million) has been allocated to Urban
Health Services.
• The state government has approved the Cyber Crisis Management
Plan and Critical Information Infrastructure Guideline in order to
protect the electronic services provided to citizens.
Pudducherry

• In April 2022, Minister of Cooperation and Home Affairs, Mr. Amit Shah laid the
foundation for three academic buildings in Puducherry worth Rs. 48.66 crores (US$
6.31 million).
• In July 2021, the government revived its plan to expand the runway of Puducherry
airport with a few modifications in the land plan. According to the new extension
plan, the runway would be extended from its current length of 1,500 metres to 3,300
metres in the first phase by acquiring 170 acres of land.
• In February 2021, Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated the Blood Centre at
the Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER),
Puducherry, and dedicated a 100-bed hostel to women athletes in Lawspet,
Puducherry. In addition, he inaugurated the reconstructed Heritage Marie Building.
• In February 2021, The Ministry of MSME announced that it is establishing an expertise
centre in Puducherry to promote, support and foster growth of indigenous MSMEs
and start-ups in the state.
• In January 2021, the Department of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare in Puducherry
introduced a helpline to assist fishermen in contacting the department to resolve
their grievances.

Uttarakhand
The climate of Uttarakhand is temperate, marked by
seasonal variations in temperature but also affected by
tropical monsoons. January is the coldest month, with
daily high temperatures averaging below freezing in
the north and near 70 °F (21 °C) in the southeast. In the
north, July is the hottest month, with temperatures
typically rising from the mid-40s F (about 7 °C) to
about 70 °F daily. In the southeast, May is the warmest
month, with daily temperatures normally reaching the
low 100s F (about 38 °C) from a low around 80 °F (27
°C). Most of the state’s roughly 60 inches (1,500 mm) of
annual precipitation is brought by the southwest
monsoon, which blows from July through September.
Floods and landslides are problems during the rainy
season in the lower stretches of the valleys. In the
northern parts of the state, 10 to 15 feet (3 to 5 metres)
of snowfall is common between December and March.
Pudducherry
The hot season lasts for 2.7 months, from April
27 to July 18, with an average daily high
temperature above 94°F. The hottest month of the
year in Puducherry is May, with an average high
of 96°F and low of 83°F.
The cool season lasts for 3.5 months,
from November 5 to February 20, with an average
daily high temperature below 85°F. The coldest
month of the year in Puducherry is January, with an
average low of 73°F and high of 83°F.
