Assignment#3 Questions

3.1. Explain the difference between attribute control charts and variable control
charts.

Variable control charts are used to monitor continuous characteristics of the products,
while attribute control charts are applied to monitor the quality characteristics, which
are not possible to express in numerical scale.

A graph used to examine how a process evolves over time is the control chart. Data
are plotted according to time. An average line in the middle, an upper line for the
upper control limit, and a lower line for the lower control limit are always present on
a control chart. These lines were established using historical information. You can
determine whether the process variation is consistent (under control) or unpredictable
(out of control, influenced by unique causes of variation) by comparing your present
data to these lines.

3.2. Select three service companies or organizations you are familiar with and
indicate how process control charts could be used in each.

GENERAL PHILIPPINE HOSPITAL

The cause-and-effect diagram, in my opinion, should be used in this business or

organization. because the causes of the quality problem were being identified using a
cause-and-effect diagram. The hospital is mentioned in the NEUVLE example as
well. The diagram, which was displayed there, was used in the hospital to speed up
patient turnover.

Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co.

Cause-and-effect diagrams, in my opinion, are also applicable to his business. because

we can better identify the sources of quality problems by using this diagram. We can
consider elements such as the workforce, measurement, and environment that
professionals entered.

3.3. Select a local fast-food restaurant, retail store, grocery store, or bank, and
identify the different processes that control charts could be used to monitor.

Jollibee

I believe Jollibee could use a histogram to pinpoint issues within their organization. I
think that the people who work on creating the products or snacks that Jollibee sells
could also be at fault. I believe that if they created a histogram, they could observe
when the issues arise and, using that information, they could identify the people who
are working during those hours.
