Overview:
The term Library came from a Latin word –Book. Library is used for maintain the
collection of books Library Management is also called an automated library system. It is
defined as software established to manage basic housekeeping function of a library. Library
Management System helps to provide information on any book present in the library to the
user as well as staff members. It also keeps a track of book issued and book returned.

It helps librarian to maintain the database of new books and the books that are
borrowed by members along with their due date.

Purpose:
The project mainly focused on an atmosphere for holding books and library user’s
information. The main aim of this project is to maintain highly secured information to
provide reports on various book reports.

Modules:

There are two modules used in the proposed system.


 Admin
 User

Library Admin:

Login:
It is to confirm that only authenticated admin is logging in this project.

Add Book:
Add Book tabs helps to add the new book into the system database.

Update/Delete Book:
By clicking on this tab only an admin can update or delete the book details from the
project.

Issue book for student:


By Clicking on the Issue Book tab to get the details of the book issued.

Return book status:


This tab indicates that book is returned before the last date, or returned after the last
date along with fine.

User:
User login:
By clicking on the user log in tab, the user entering a registered username and user
password he can enter into the portal.

User Register:
The module that allows the user to register and log in and log out from the portal.

Search book:
The user can search the book what she/he is looking for is found by using this tab.

My Book History:
User can view the history of the books she/he taken and also check when and also find
out the last date to return the book.

Front End: Java

Back End: MS SQL server 2005

Platform: Net beans IDE 7.0.1

Hardware Requirements:
Operating System: Windows

Hard disk: 40 GB

RAM: 256 MB

Processor: Pentium(R) Dual core

Conclusion:
The Library Management System allows the user to store the book details and the
person’s details. This software stores all the relevant details to the library. The
implementation of the Software will reduce the Data Entry Time and provide readily
calculated reports.

In the library Management System, the librarian can add/delete/update the student and
book details into the database. The students have unique ID for accessing any book from the
library. Through the ID, the librarian can check the user details, fine amount, and the book
details. This helps in reducing in labour work.
