Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings [April 2023 – Present]

Volunteer
Duties: Working as part of a team learning new skills, carrying out general maintenance, gardening, and
minor repairs. This has involved helping to renovate a small Victorian era building interior and exterior,
such as plastering, painting, tidying up, and making records of any areas in need of attention.

Dene Tech [Aug 2022 – Sept 2022]


Assistant Surveyor
Duties: Travelling in a two-man team surveying underground utilities, drainage systems and
manholes/inspection chambers. This involved lifting the covers of manholes and entering confined spaces
in storm or foul sewage systems using hand tools and safety equipment, sometimes wearing waders to take
measurements. Measuring all parts of the working sewage pipes and interior space for data collection and
mapping purposes, carrying out levelling surveys with GPS and an optical level and recording this
information.

Rowberry’s Nursery [Apr 2022 – Jul 2022]


Nursery Operative
Duties: Tidying and top-dressing of selected plants from the growing houses and tunnels and moving them
to the retail plant areas. In the retail areas: arranging plants for display, pruning, dead-heading and tying
up/caning. Part of my role involved handling customer queries, giving directions and providing advice or
suggestions. Other duties included daily watering of the plant areas, compacting and tidying plant benches,
writing promotional signs, labelling plants, and general housekeeping

Rush Farm [Feb 2022 – Apr 2022]


Landscaping and Polytunnel Assistant
Duties: The two projects included building raised beds, constructing a poly tunnel and grounds
maintenance. This involved working with garden machinery and power tools, site and ground preparation,
and the construction of timber benches/racking for an ornamental plant and vegetable growing business.
Worcestershire Wildlife Trust [Jan 2022 – Feb 2022]
Nature Reserve Volunteer
Duties: Volunteering with a small group at Feckenham Wylde Moor SSSI. The work involved assisting
with cutting back the reed bed using farming tools. I also helped with a variety of Roving group projects
that included installing wire fencing, replacing and installing fence posts and gates, and clearing brush and
felled trees.

Crafted Boats Ltd [Sept 2021 – Oct 2021]


General Operative
Duties: Site cleaning and maintenance, emptying general waste bins, cleaning floors, tables and wash
areas, sweeping workshops, returning tools to storage areas. Assisting at dry-dock, grit-blasting, pressure
washing, painting boats, helping with the delivery of boats to local customers, working on boats via steps,
ladders and platforms, using powered cutting and abrasive tools.

Pugh’s Cacti [May 2019 – Apr 2021]


Nursery Operative
Duties: The role involved working with cacti and other succulent plants for a wholesale plant business.
Duties such as: the organisation and movement of stock internally and externally, handling goodsin
deliveries, the pricing, naming, and passporting of plant mixes, watering plants in the glasshouses and
polytunnels, potting, de-potting and re-potting, the production of value-added items such as single and
multiplant ‘gardens’, picking and packing customer orders, loading vans and delivery driving to garden
centres and nurseries nationwide. The work also involved maintaining the functionality of the premises,
carrying out repairs on heating, ventilation and irrigation systems using hand and power tools.
