“ICT: The bridge that connects relationships”

By:Craig vicente stem 11 pearl

This image was art made by me for mother’s day. Because my mother is abroad I
can’t give anything to her physically, so instead I gave her a present via
digitally using my digital art.

It was a very positive experience overall. Even though I couldn’t give it to

her personally.I could atleast give her something, even if it was in a form of
pixels through digital means.

Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have profoundly transformed

the way people communicate, impacting various aspects of daily life, business,
and society. Here's a comparison of communication with and without the use of
ICTs:
Communication Without ICTs:
Face-to-Face Communication:
Traditional communication primarily relied on face-to-face interactions. People
communicated directly, either in person or through handwritten letters.
Limited Reach:
Communication had geographical limitations. Messages took longer to reach
recipients, especially in the case of international communication.
Postal Services:
Postal services played a crucial role. Written letters and packages were the
main modes of long-distance communication, and responses were delayed.
Landline Telephones:
Telephones existed, but they were often limited to voice calls, and there was a
lack of instant connectivity.
Print Media:
Information dissemination relied heavily on newspapers, magazines, and other
printed materials. News and updates were not as immediate.
Formal Communication Channels:
Formal communication often followed structured processes, such as business
letters and official documents.

Communication With ICTs:

Instant Communication:
ICTs, including the internet and mobile devices, enable instant communication
through emails, instant messaging, and video calls. Messages are delivered in
real-time.
Global Reach:
ICTs have eliminated geographical barriers. People can communicate globally at
the click of a button, fostering international collaboration and connections.
Email and Social Media:
Email and social media platforms provide efficient and immediate means of
communication. Information is shared quickly, and conversations can be ongoing.
Mobile Communication:
Mobile phones have become versatile communication tools, offering not just
voice calls but also text messaging, internet browsing, and various
applications.
Multimedia Communication:
ICTs enable the exchange of multimedia content, including photos,
videos, and documents, enriching the communication experience.
Informal and Collaborative Tools:
Informal communication has flourished through platforms like messaging apps and
social media, enabling quick and casual exchanges.
Business Communication:
Business communication has become more dynamic with tools like video
conferencing, project management software, and collaborative platforms.
Citizen Journalism:
ICTs allow individuals to contribute to the dissemination of news and
information through blogs, social media, and other online platforms.
Comparison:
Speed and Efficiency:
Without ICTs, communication was slower and less efficient, relying on physical
transportation of messages. With ICTs, communication is immediate, enhancing
productivity and decision-making.
Access to Information:
ICTs have democratized access to information, making it readily available to a
global audience. Without ICTs, information dissemination was more controlled
and limited.
Interactivity:
ICTs facilitate two-way communication, fostering interactivity. Traditional
communication methods were often more one-sided, with limited opportunities for
immediate feedback.
Cost and Convenience:
ICTs have reduced the cost of communication and made it more convenient.
Traditional methods, such as long-distance calls or mailing physical documents,
were often more expensive and time-consuming.
In summary, ICTs have revolutionized communication by making it faster, more
accessible, and diverse. The shift from traditional communication methods to
digital technologies has had a profound impact on how individuals, businesses,
and societies interact and exchange information.
