Week 3 Assignment
1. Differentiate the functions of both Adipocyte cells

The difference between the function of the two, is that; brown adipose tissue
has the ability to transfer energy from food into heat; In physiological way, both
the heat produced and the resulting decrease in metabolic efficiency can have
significance. On the other side, white adipocytes plays an important role which it
serves as the energy storage. It stores fat in the form of triglycerides inside their
cytoplasmic lipid droplets, which helps to maintain free fatty acid levels in the
blood.
2. Identify the morphology of brown and white adipocytes; provide
histologic image from the internet.

1. Identify what type of lipid is stored in adipocytes and explain their
production and function in the body.
• The type of lipid stored in adipocytes is the Triglycerides. They normally
circulate in the bloodstream to supply energy to cells and are stored in body
fat as an emergency store of energy. This is also known as
hypertriglyceridemia and is linked to an increased risk of other health
conditions such as cardiovascular disease fatty acids in a Triglycerides or
triacylglycerols form. Our liver makes triglycerides When you eat extra
calories especially carbohydrates, your liver increases the production of
triglycerides. When you consume or your body creates —
excess triglycerides, they're stored in fat cells for later use. Triglycerides are
also a major component of very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and serve as a
source of energy. They are broken down in the intestine, absorbed by
intestinal cells, and combined with cholesterol and proteins to form
chylomicrons that are transported in lymph to the bloodstream. Triglycerides
are the most common type of fat digested in the body and can be either
consumed in the diet or produced in the body. If there are excessive levels of
triglycerides in the body, the level of triglycerides circulating in the
bloodstream and stored in body fat elevates and obesity becomes more
common.
1. Describe briefly the histogenesis of both adipose cells
There are two processes of adipose tissue formation. In the primary fat
formation, which takes place relatively early (in human fetuses the first traces
of a fat organ are detectable between the 14th and 16th weeks of prenatal
life), gland-like aggregations of epithelioid precursor cells, called lipoblasts or
preadipocytes, are laid down in specific locations and accumulate multiple
lipid droplets becoming brown adipocytes. The secondary fat formation takes
place later in fetal life (after the 23rd week of gestation) as well as in the early
postnatal period, whereby the differentiation of other fusiform precursor cells
that accumulate lipid to ultimately coalesce into a single large drop per cell
leads to the dissemination of fat depots formed by unilocular white adipocytes
in many areas of connective tissue
