• ML Research Intern Oct. 2021 - Present
Under Prof. Yuji Iwahori, Chubu University
◦ Detection of kidney glomeruli cells by performing Semantic Segmentation on high quality PAS-stained renal biopsy images.
◦ Implemented CNN, Transformers and provided comparison to the MLP Mixer based architecture proposed in the study.
◦ Inspired by the growing development of MLP Mixers, developed a novel segmentation model, Mixer-UNet with a hybrid
CNN-Mixer encoder, with a Cascaded Upsampler like UNet, TransUNet.
◦ Model was able to utilise the simplicity and linear computational complexity of MLPs, in contrast to transformers with
quadratic complexity and leveraged use of high resolution CNN feature maps during upsampling.
◦ Model performed significantly better than UNet while it had comparable results against Transformer-based TransUNet.
• Data Science Intern May 2021 - July 2021

◦ Developed root market item categorization of various products over different cross-departments and sub-category with the
US market as the prime, with products described over 10 international markets.
◦ Worked on the stabilization of model predictions over multiple training iterations with different random seeds to improve
model performance and robustness.
◦ Implemented pNLP-Mixer (based on MLP-Mixers) on the Pytorch Lightning framework, which out-performed the CNN
module in the existing pipeline in terms of accuracy and prediction stability.
◦ For further stabilization over random seeds, implemented Aggressive Stochastic Weight Averaging (ASWA)/norm-filtered
ASWA (NASWA) algorithm on the optimizer, ADAM to re-route to more stable gradients.

◦ Headline (summary) of mobile tech articles generated using Abstractive & Extractive Summary Generation mechanisms.
◦ Boosted model performance by using additional training data scraped using BeautifulSoup.
◦ Created custom function for cleansing the data using libraries like Demoji and Regex.
◦ Explored HuggingFace library for transformer models like T-5, RoBERTa and also preprocessed datasets using different
tokenizers for different models according to suitability.

◦ Developed a Flutter app that enables a user to create a group, and view the geographical location of all the group members.
