    Images and Multimedia in HTML

    Multimedia comes in many different formats. It can be almost anything you


    can hear or see, like images, music, sound, videos, records, films,
    animations, and more.

    Web pages often contain multimedia elements of different types and formats.

    Multimedia Formats
    Multimedia elements (like audio or video) are stored in media files.

    The most common way to discover the type of a file, is to look at the file
    extension.

    Multimedia files have formats and different extensions


    like: .wav, .mp3, .mp4, .mpg, .wmv, and .avi.

    Images

    The HTML <img> tag is used to embed an image in a web page.

    Images are not technically inserted into a web page; images are linked to
    web pages. The <img> tag creates a holding space for the referenced image.

    The <img> tag is empty, it contains attributes only, and does not have a
    closing tag.

    The <img> tag has two required attributes:

     src - Specifies the path to the image


     alt - Specifies an alternate text for the image

    The src Attribute


    The required src attribute specifies the path (URL) to the image.

    Note: When a web page loads, it is the browser, at that moment, that gets
    the image from a web server and inserts it into the page. Therefore, make
    sure that the image actually stays in the same spot in relation to the web
    page, otherwise your visitors will get a broken link icon. The broken link icon
    and the alt text are shown if the browser cannot find the image.

    The alt Attribute

    <p>The alt attribute should reflect the image content, so users
    who cannot see the image get an understanding of what the
    image contains:</p>

    The required alt attribute provides an alternate text for an image, if the user
    for some reason cannot view it (because of slow connection, an error in the
    src attribute, or if the user uses a screen reader).

    The value of the alt attribute should describe the image:
