SECTION 3 - POSITIONING SUBSYSTEM

3-1 FLOOR AND ROOM PREPARATION

The Gantry and Table must rest on solid concrete or other basic flooring, not on resilient tile or carpeting which may
slowly yield over a period of time and disturb the Table to Gantry alignment.
The floor structure must be capable of withstanding both the combined weight of the Table and Gantry and the
individual area loading of these components. Refer to Section 2, ROOM LAYOUTS, of the Preinstallation manual.
Method and Placement of anchoring must not reduce the structural strength or integrity of the floor.
Refer to Illustration 2-1, TYPICAL ROOM LAYOUT, of the Preinstallation manual when marking the position of the
Gantry and Table on the floor.

SECTION 4 - WIRING AND POWER-ON

4-1 SYSTEM POWER, GROUND AND SIGNAL CABLE CONNECTION

4-1-1 General
This section describes the sequence of system cabling and power-on test. Complete as much of the Contractor
supplied wiring as possible before starting the system cabling. Some Contractor supplied wiring, for example
ground cables, must be pulled along with the system cables. In addition, some raceway work, such as cutting and
fitting covers at equipment locations, must be finished after completing the cabling and placing the equipment in
position.
All system cables use a system component designator for identification. The end of each system cable has a label
near the connector that identifies the CABLE NUMBER and CONNECTOR NUMBER.

4-2 CABLE INTER-CONNECTION

4-2-1 Introduction

WARNING
ELECTROCUTION ! TURN OFF THE SWITCH OF THE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX AND TAG
IT TO VERIFY THAT ALL POWER IS DISCONNECTED TO THE SYSTEM.

When performing system and ground wiring, ensure that all wiring conforms to the information contained in this
manual, in particular to the tables and illustrations contained in this section. The tables in this section list:
• All contractor supplied cables
• System furnished cables
• GEHW Supplied cable Part Numbers
• Destination connector or socket for the end of each cable
The illustrations provide detailed information on the actual connector and terminal strip locations. Illustrations
include :
• System Interconnect Diagram
• OC Cable Connection
• PDU Cable Connection
• Gantry Cable Connection
1. Verify that all ground wiring and other contractor wiring are complete to the point of equipment placement.
2. Check for reasonable cable routing. Don’t forget to leave enough cable take-up for equipment maintenance,
etc. Perform as neatly a job as possible.
Note
Keep signal and control cables away from power cables and power wiring. When laying cables in
a raceway, locate the signal cables in a separate section of the raceway.
3. Verify that both ends of each cable are clean cut and properly located before terminating and connecting them.
4. Ensure that all connections are tight. Use suitable tools. Check and tighten all visible connections, especially
ground connections.

NOTICE
Attach a tie-wrap to each system cable within 30 mm of each terminal end.

NOTICE
Be sure to have the appropriate hospital personnel approve the location of the table/Gantry
before starting to drill any anchor holes.

7-2-1 Precautions
• Complete the Table to Gantry Alignment before Anchoring the Gantry and Table.
(Refer to Functional Check/Adjustment, Gantry, Table and Gantry, TABLE POSITIONING.)
• Prior to anchoring, after drilling the anchoring holes, check that the Gantry and Table are tightly fixed
together by two bolts.

DANGER
CRASH HAZARD!! THE TABLE AND GANTRY MUST BE ANCHORED.

7-2-2 General

CAUTION
Unstable condition. Keep the Table at its highest position. Don’t tilt the Gantry except if
necessary.

The following hardwares are provided with the system.

7-2-3 Gantry Anchoring

This anchoring procedure is used for the anchor kit shipped with the system.
Note
The other anchor can also be used, instead of the anchor kit shipped with the system. In this case,
you can use the other anchoring procedures that are not described in this manual, but the minimum
tensile load strength of the anchor MUST meet the specification below.

NOTICE
The minimum Tensile load strength of the anchor must be 13000 N.
1. Attach a piece of tape to the 12 mm concrete drill bit (2203081: HILTI, TE-CX 12/17 or equivalent) in order to
assure a minimum of 95 mm depth of anchor hole.

7-2-3 Gantry Anchoring (Continued)

2. Make holes at the anchor position as shown in illustration 7-2, using electric drill with the bit prepared in the
previous step, so that the lower edge of the tape just touch the floor surface. (Also see Illustration 7-5.)

When making rear holes, the Gantry Rotor section might disturb this work. If it does, rotate the Gantry to make
space.

NOTICE
During drilling, always keep the drill bit perpendicular to the floor. With one person drilling
the hole, a second person can visually insure perpendicularity throughout the drilling
operation. Clear the hole of debris several times while drilling to prevent the drill bit from
binding.
Note
If any obstruction is found under the proper anchoring position, stop drilling and use the alternate
position (see illustration 7-2). Use the alternate positions only in the case where its corresponding
proper position is not possible.

7-2-4 Table Anchoring

This anchoring procedure is one for the anchor kit shipped with the system.

1. Verify that the table flapper is removed to make space for anchoring. If it is not, remove the table flapper by
removing the four flapper Assy mounting bolts.

the hole, a second person can visually insure perpendicularity throughout the drilling
operation. Clear the hole of debris several times while drilling to prevent the drill bit from
binding.
Note
If any obstruction is found under the proper anchoring position, stop drilling and use the alternate
position (see illustration 7-8). Use the alternate positions only when the case its corresponding
proper position is not possible.

CLASS 1 EQUIPMENT
Any permanently installed equipment containing operator or patient accessible surfaces must provide backup
protection against electric shock,in case the BASIC INSULATION fails. In addition to BASIC INSULATION,Class1
equipment contains a direct connection to a PROTECTIVE(EARTH) CONDUCTOR which prevents shocks when a
person touches a broken piece of equipment or touches two different equipment surfaces simultaneously.

TYPE B EQUIPMENT
CLASS I, II, or III EQUIPMENT or EQUIPMENT with INTERNAL ELECTRICAL POWER SOURCES provide an
adequate degree of protection against electric shock arising from (allowable) LEAKAGE CURRENTS or a
breakdown in the reliability of the protective earth connection.

ORDINARY EQUIPMENT
Enclosed EQUIPMENT without protection against the ingress of water.

OPERATION 0f EQUIPMENT
CONTINUOUS OPERATION WITH INTERMITTENT LOADING.
Operation in which EQUIPMENT is connected continuously to the SUPPLY MAINS.The stated permissible loading
time is so short that the long term on-load operating temperature is not attained. The ensuing interval in loading is,
however, not sufficiently long for cooling down to the long term no-load operating temperature.
EQUIPMENT not suitable for use in the presence of a FLAMMABLE ANESTHETIC MIXTURE WITH AIR or WITH
OXYGEN or NITROUS OXIDE

CLEANING
The system is NOT WATERPROOF. It is NOT designed to protect internal components against the ingress of
liquids.Clean external system surfaces(Gantry, table, consoles and accessories)with a soft cloth dipped in hot water
and wrung DAMP/DRY. (NOT dripping!) IF NECESSARY, use only mild (dish washing liquid) soap to remove dirt.

NOTICE
Avoid damage to equipment! Some “spray and wipe” cleaners etch and permanently cloud
clear plastic surfaces!! Use only warm water and mild liquid soap to clean surfaces.
