Identification and data collection

 This training aims to develop your ability to identify the
various species of whales present in the water of the estuary
and gulf of St. Lawrence the northwest Atlantic ocean and
the Eastern Artic, and to collect observation data

Collected data will allow us to improve our knowledge on the
distribution and abundance of these whales
Whale Identification
Criteria
In the “Whale Identification” module , you will
learn the different criteria that will allow you to
identify whales in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean and
the Eastern arctic waters you are navigating .

This module will end with a summary , after which

you can test your knowledge by completing the
practice test.
Species of
Whales
In Scientific classification , whales ,
rorquals , dolphins and porpoises
are all considered cetaceans . In
this training tool , they are grouped
in two categories baleen whales are
toothed whales .
