Copyright for thesis students

- what should I pay attention to?

Contrary to regular semester projects, most AAU
theses eventually become available to the public. There
are some copyright issues to which you should pay
special attention to when writing your thesis:

Use of pictures, graphs, and

illustrations
As a rule, you should always ask the
permission of the copyright holder(s)
before using pictures and other graphics,
unless it has a license that permits use.

Use of social media and blog content

If the content is from a private/closed
page, you must ask permission. You are
permitted to render content from a
public page if you state your source and
if the content is legal.

Self-plagiarism
Remember always to cite yourself when
you reuse your own specific wording from
previously submitted work.

References
Remember always to make references
whenever you use other people’s
material. You are permitted to cite and
paraphrase.
