Mandatory IT and Non-IT Infrastructure Requirements for Online Proctored

Exams in WILP (Applicable only for Online Mode of Examination)

Students who have opted for Online Proctored Examination option for Mid-Semester (EC2) & Comprehensive
(EC3) exams in the upcoming semester, are required to ensure that they comply with the below Mandatory IT
and Non-IT Infrastructure Requirements.

Mandatory Hardware Requirements


PLEASE NOTE THAT ONLINE PROCTORED EXAMS CAN BE TAKEN USING MICROSOFT WINDOWS OS
MACHINES ONLY. OTHER SYSTEMS LIKE MAC / MACBOOK / MACBOOK AIR / LINUX OS / CHROME OS WILL
NOT BE ALLOWED FOR TAKING ONLINE PROCTORED EXAMINATIONS. IN CASE THE STUDENT DOESN’T HAVE
A WINDOWS OS MACHINE CURRENTLY, HE / SHE WOULD NEED TO ARRANGE FOR THE SAME COMPLYING
WITH ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS BELOW FOR TAKING ONLINE PROCTORED EXAMINATIONS

Laptop or Desktop with the following configuration


● 4GB RAM minimum
● Core2 Duo (Intel or AMD) processor or above
● Functioning in-built primary camera in laptop OR functioning attached primary camera in desktop
● Functioning mic (inbuilt or attached) for audio
● Software Installation rights for the user in the laptop or desktop concerned (if you plan to use an
office machine for taking the exam, your employer should agree and give you the required
permissions. If you are unsure of getting the requisite permissions, please arrange for an alternate
machine).
● In case you have custom hardware (e.g. high end graphics card) attached to your laptop / desktop, it
is required that such custom hardware is disabled or disconnected. Student needs to have rights on
the system to do this activity

Secondary Camera (This is in addition to the Primary Camera requirement mentioned under
Laptop / Desktop Configuration above)
● USB Camera with wide angle view (wide angle view feature in the camera is mandatory)
● Recommended models for secondary camera are mentioned below.
o HP w100 480P 30 FPS Digital Webcam with Built-in Mic, Plug and Play Setup, Wide-Angle
View
o Logitech C270 Digital HD Webcam with Widescreen HD Video Calling
o C930e Logitech webcam with wide angle view and USB
● Students need to ensure that the device drivers for the camera are present in the system used for
taking the exam
● Cord length of the secondary camera should be long enough to allow the camera to be placed 2 to 2.5
feet away from the user.
● Since the secondary camera would need to be placed at a height of 8 to 10 inches above the test
takers desk, it is also recommended that the student procure a stand for mounting the camera at the
height mentioned.
● Secondary Camera will need to be attached to the Laptop or Desktop used for the exam via the USB
port. USB ports on the Laptop or Desktop should be active for attaching and detecting the Secondary
Camera. (if you plan to use an office machine for taking the exam, your employer may need to agree
and make these ports active. If this is not possible, please arrange for an alternate machine where
these ports are active)
● In case your machine does not support the USB of your secondary camera, you need to purchase an
appropriate connector to connect the camera to the Laptop / Desktop.
Mandatory Software Requirements

Software for Windows Systems (OTHER OPERATING SYSTEMS LIKE MAC OS, LINUX OS, CHROME
OS WILL NOT BE SUPPORTED)
● OS Version – 32 bit or 64 bit version of Windows 8.1, Windows 10 or Windows 11
● Dot Net 4.5 service pack must be installed on the system
● Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9 for viewing PDF documents
● MS Office (version 2013 or later) for accessing PPT files

Safe Exam Browser


● Students will need to download and install Safe Exam Browser (Wheebox Exam Browser 2.0) from the
examination platform. This should be done prior to taking the exam.
● Students must have installation rights to install this software on their Laptop / Desktop to be used for
examination. (If you plan to use an office machine for taking the exam, your employer should agree
and give you the required permissions to install this software. If you are unsure of getting the
requisite permissions, please arrange for an alternate machine)
● Please note that Safe Exam Browser, when in use, will not allow attaching any additional hardware
(other than the secondary camera) to the Laptop / Desktop.

Mandatory Connectivity and Power Requirements

● Minimum Network speed of 2 Mbps


● Uninterrupted Power / UPS for Desktop used for taking the exam. If the Laptop is used, the battery
should be charged in full to provide power backup in case of any outage during the exam.
● Uninterrupted Power / UPS for network router. Please have a suitable UPS that provides power
backup for your network router for the full duration of the exam.

Mandatory Non IT Infrastructure and Other Requirements

● Students need to take the exam in a silent, well-lit and exclusive room to ensure no disturbance and
distraction during the exam.
● Students MUST take the exam on a clean desk with sufficient space to place the Laptop / Desktop, the
Secondary Camera, Books and Reference material (if permitted by the institute for the exam).
● The desk space should also be sufficient to place the secondary camera at least 2 to 2.5 feet away and
in such a manner that captures the left / right side profile view of the examinee and his / her Desktop
/ Laptop. Please note that the online exam proctor may ask the student to adjust the placement of
the secondary camera if the correct profile view is not visible. On occasions the proctor may ask the
examinee to also move the secondary camera to briefly show a 360 degree view of the room where
the exam is being taken. Keeping in view the use of the secondary camera, students must ensure
adequate cord length, desk space and sufficient mounting space for it.
