WHAT IS SCULPTURE?

 Sculpture is an artistic form in which hard or plastic materials


are worked into three dimensional art form. it is a branch of
visual arts.

What type of material can be used to make sculpture?

 Sculpture is a form of art to which we can give any kind of


shape and show the creativity on anything found
 A various kind of material is used in sculpture
 clay, wax, stone, metal, fabric, glass, wood, plaster, rubber,
and random “found” objects are the basic media used in
making sculpture.

What are the methods used in making of sculpture?

 Additive method
 Subtractive method also known as carving
 Molding & Casting

TYPES OF SCULPTURE
Relief Sculpture:

 Reliefs can be defined as a minor etching into the


wood, stone, or other material

Low relief:

 When the image is only slightly raised, as with a coin,


the sculpture is called low relief or bas-relief. The
ancient Egyptians sometimes carved figures into a flat
surface. This type of carving is known as sunken relief.

High relief:

 A type of relief art in which image is extend from the


background to at least half of their depth, it is also
known as alto relieve.

Sunken relief:
 Sunken relief is a technique of relief sculpture in which
figures or images are carved in low relief, so that the
relief never rises beyond the original flat surface.

 Sculpture in the round is a piece of art that is three
dimensional, or 3D,so we can see it from all sides, and
can walk all the way around it.
