TO: Janet Reno, U.S. Attorney General
Dear Janet,
This is the first letter I have ever written to anyone in the
Federal Government.
#1: I support you and believe in you. (At this point, you can put
this letter down and get on with your job.) ~. _

The President
The White House b-Jt,

We realize that many things were considered before this decision was made and
feel that the children's best interest and safety was a prime consideration as the
resolution came to an end. After all the reports are in and the investigation is
complete, we will have greater insight into cults and know better how to respond if
it happens again. Overall, we are confident that the results will be favorable regarding
Vernon Howell no doubt realized what a precarious position he had put himself
in and that he could not just surrender without disclosure of his abominable behavior.
Anyone who would believe that he was coming out (surrendering) after he completed
writing the Seven Seals is living in a dream world! Lying, among other things, was
his way of life and he taught it to those who followed him. Because he was a
fugitive, we feel he was not entitled to legal counsel or any other consideration from
those agencies. As far as we're concerned, he forfeited his rights when he fired upon

has no place in a situation like this.

those of us who are law abiding citizens to again be able to live in our communities
safely and without fear for life and property. It's time for those who issue sentences
to get tough and to quit being so lenient on those who break the law. More death
sentences should be given for those who kill and all prisoners need fewer rights.
Frankly, we have little concern for those in prison who are "crowded". We're trying
to treat uncivilized people in a civilized way and many don't deserve it or appreciate
it. say, give Americans jobs by either building more jails or refurbishing vacant —

buildings in our country to house these people who have broken the law and taken,
away our freedom. Repeat offenders often know the law better than many of us and
have learned how to get around it. Please begin to make changes that will protect us
from harm and will toughen our laws - starting with the length of time it takes to do
just thatl believe you'll find a great deal of support In this area by those of us who

feel something must be done. Many of the people with whom work share these

sentiments and some feel even stronger. Too much taxpayer money is spent on
appeals when the defendant doesn't request It or need it. It's long past time for
perpetrators to accept the responsibility for their own actions and to answer for what
they do.
We commend
you, Mr. President, Attorney General Reno, the FBI, the ATF,
medical services personnel, and others who conducted themselves so professionally
in an extremely tough situation and helped conclude this tragic chapter in American
history. May God help this great nation.
cc:
P.S. This is a first for me - towrite a letter like this and to send it to the President.
Somehow, however, I felt the need to express my thoughts on this subject but wasn't
quite sure to whom I should write. So, thought I'd just start at the top. Hope that
was appropriate. Many thanks for your time.

: .ay Concern:
I wanted to let you know that there are citizens who support your
efforts and methods tc end the .Vaco standoff. I have watched
many news reports and interviews cf people expressing their
negative opinions and art sick and tired cf listening'to their
complaints. I think people had forgotten the fact that you were
dealing with criminals in that compound.
I’m sure the truth about the fire will be revealed and am sure
it was set by persons within the compound. Sven if it was started
as a result of your actions; "So .vhet" , those people had plenty
of time to get out (51 days to be exact).
Che only problem I have with your handling of the situation is that
you waited too long!

Late last night I had the privilege to observe your testimony before the House Judiciary
Committee. No, C Span does not put us all to sleep.
As both an academic instructor and a career practitioner, it is my opinion that some of our
elected overseers are using a "tactical police action" for their own political agenda-as opposed
to the public interest I suspect that some overseers would find it most arduous to make any
kind of difficult decision (rational or otherwise) concerning any life-critical scenario and, within
any kind of reasonable timeframe.
Ostensibly, after hearing the FBI testimony, we remain confident that the decisions at Waco
were the best possible decisions given the circumstances. Obviously, some seem to have
already forgotten a context where we were dealing with offensively armed, fortress fortified,
fanatic, violent felons who were also using children as a shield. We have seen nothing that
would indicate that the actions were taken in anything other than a judiciously reasonable and
professionally responsible manner-with the information that was at hand at that time and,
comnnensurate’with the resources that were available at that time. Indeed, the Supreme Court
of the United States of America demands no more of police actions than that-actions that are
reasonable, cot\sidering what we know at a given point in time.
For anyone to suggest that honorable law enforcement officers would purposely engage in any
negligent or unreasonable act, where the lives of children are at risk is simply beyond any
sensible, earthly .political, professional, or divine comt
