REFLECTION PAPER ON MOVIE: STARS ON EARTH

Dyslexia is most commonly associated with trouble learning to read and write. It affects a child’s ability
to recognize and manipulate the sounds in language. This is the same exact thing that Ishan has been
showing in the movie, ‘Stars on Earth’.

We people tend to prejudice others that are unable to read or write as someone that is dumb or stupid.
We think they are below us hence society neglects their needs. Some people are good at writing and
some people are just good at making arts or solving mathematical problems, and it just proves that not
everyone is the same.

The greatest moral I have learned from the movie I watched is, just because someone is bad at
something doesn’t mean they are also bad at anything. What they need is an understanding
environment which helps them to learn from something that they are having hard times with and to
improve on something that they are good at. Just like other kids, they also need a nurturing place that
would view them as normal as other kids.

Nonetheless, Dyslexia is not a reflection of a child’s intelligence — in fact it’s defined as a gap between a
student’s ability and achievement. Some youngsters with dyslexia are able to keep up with their peers
with extra effort. An effort that is provided by their parents and educators. Children with dyslexia do not
need a brutal discipline method but acceptance and love.
