The Lord is Hastening His Work

The Lord’s church had a simple beginning, only a handful of members were available during the
organization of the church of Jesus Christ in this last dispensation but the prophet Joseph Smith had a
vision of its growth and ultimately filling the whole world. Having a testimony of the destiny of the
Lord’s church will assist us in identifying our role in hastening the Lord’s work. To assist in fulfilling our
role, we must be actively engaged in the work. President Thomas S. Monson reminded us that: “We, as
spirit children of our Heavenly Father, were sent to earth at this time that we might participate in
hastening this great work.”

As was stated by elder David E. Bednar, of the quorum of the twelve apostles. He said that the
Lord is hastening His work through the invention of modern technology. There is rapid growth for many
different social media channels that can act as communication tools for hastening the Lord’s work if they
are used properly.

The construction of temples throughout the world, is additional evidence that the Lord is
hastening His work and we now have a sacred responsibility to perform proxy ordinances for our
deceased ancestors. Ministering also to our living brothers and sisters is a significant way of participating
in the Lord’s hasted work.

Elder Marvin J Ballard of the quorum of the twelve apostle prophesied in Argentina – 1925, that:
“The work of the Lord will grow slowly for a time here just as an oak grows slowly from an acorn. It will
not shoot up in a day as does the sunflower that grows quickly and then dies. But thousands will join the
Church here. It will be divided into more than one mission and will be one of the strongest in the
Church. The work here is the smallest that it will ever be”
