The steps of implementing Genre Based Language Teaching Method in the school

1. Planning
The planning step presented the plans derived from the results of the discussion between the
researcher and the real lecturers to provide some instructional tools (the types of texts) and
learning steps to overcome the students' problems in writing.
2. Acting and observing
The acting step was parts of conducting the arranged plans in the class while observing, the
researcher and the real lecturer observed the instructional processes by using the observation
sheet. After that, the author chooses the text that will be used for students to practice. In this
research, the researcher chose descriptive text. Then the researcher began to explain what parts
of the text were and showed examples. After that the researcher asked students to try to create
descriptive text.
3. Reflecting
The reflecting step aimed at evaluating whether or not the arranged plans achieved the
expected improvements.
After all that, an evaluation of the student's work is carried out to find out the parts that the
student still does not understand. And to find out whether this method can improve students'
quality and understanding in writing texts.

In this study, researchers used a pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was carried out before the
treatment. The post test was carried out after the students received treatment from the
researcher.

joint construction is a stage in which the teacher starts implementing to practice writing based
on the topic provided.
