ITRODUCTION

The material of the present research is “White Fang” by Jack London, the
genre of the novel is adventure [pp 4-104].

This book will teach you to look with different eyes both at our smaller brothers
and at yourself. She carries herself a charge of unthinkable cleansing power, makes
her cry, now from impotence, then from joy. Jack London condemns people who
have turned into animals, because they are gods who should be responsible for all
of nature, but in fact they cannot even take responsibility for their own lives.

The purpose of this investigation is to examine peculiarities of four text

categories and to determine the author’s writing style.

The present work is done of the aspect of Text Linguistics, Linguistics is a

science about language. Linguistics consists of four basic levels. They are
Phonetics, Lexicology, Grammar and Stylistics. Language is means of
communication and reality cognition. Language in action creates speech. Text is a
result of speech activity. The linguistic discipline that studies text is Text
Linguistics. Object of Text Linguistics is text itself. Subject of Text Linguistics is
represented with text categories. They were considered by the scientist 1. R
Galperin in his work "Text as an Object of Linguistic Research" [1].

Every text category may be realized explicitly (verbally) and implicitly (non-
verbally). Explicit realization of text categories can be in the form of three types of
context. They are description, narration and meditation. If two or three types of
context are used together this type of context is called syncretic (mixed) [1].

There have been revealed four text categories realized in the context of"The
picture of Dorian Gray", a novel by Oscar Wilde. They are Continuum,
Informativeness, Articulation and Cohesion [1]. They are all observed in 104
fragments (100%) of the context.

RESEARCH OF THE PECULIARITIES OF TEXT CATEGORIES

REALIZATION IN THE CONTEXT OF “WHITE FANG”, A NOVEL BY

JACK LONDON

1.The peculiarities of Continuum realization

Continuum is a text category that represents time and place connection.

Time and place are the first of all philosophical categories, so Continuum is a
philosophical category. Every text deictic means of realization. They are signals of
this text category. Deictic means of continuum are interrogative pronouns “when”
and “where” [1].

Continuum of place is mainly realized explicitly in the form of discribtion,

for example,

In the Dark spruce forest frowned on either side the frozen waterway.

Continuum of place is realized explicitly in the form of nuration and

discribtion, for example,

Silence reigned in the night camp, and the glowing eyes still surrounded
scared Bill.

"We won't be able to hold out in this dark forest any longer"

In general he author operates with Continuum 68 times (40%).

2. The peculiarities of Informativeness realization

Informativeness is a text category that provides information.

Informativeness represents new facts. In artistic text there are 2 types of
Informativeness. Plot Informativeness represents new facts in the context plot.
First of all it is information about the protagonist, other characters and the chain of
events. Cognitive Informativeness represents new facts of general knowledge
which exists out of the context [1].
Plot Informativeness is mainly represented with travelers. They are radiantly
handsome and impressionable. Under the influence of wolves and dark forest,
travelers becomes extremely concerned with the leave this damned forest as soon
as possible and sit by the warm fireplace.

This category is mainly realized explicitly in the form of meditation, for

example,
Gray Beaver is an Indian, he is approximately 68 years old, the first owner
of White Fang.
In this passage Plot Informativeness is realized in the form of meditation and
represents information about age of character.

Cognetive Informativeness is represented with facts of different spheres like

Geography, Biology, Religion, Fashion, Historical Facts and Architecture.
This category is realized explicitly in the form of narration, for example,
They descended into a ravine, which was formed over the years by nature,
overgrown with thick tree roots. Only there they managed to set up camp.
In this passage Cognetive Informativeness is realized explicitly in the form of
narration and represents information from the sphere of Geofraphy.
Im general the author operates with Informativeness 49 times (30%).

3.The peculiarities of Articulation realization

Articulation is a text category a of context subdivision into logical parts such

as paragraphs, chapters, parts, volumes etc. Each logical part has its quintessence
it contains main information [1].
In the researched material Articulation is realized explicitly in subdivision of
the novel context into 5 logical parts. They are chapters.
Chapter 2 is articulated from Chapter 1 as the quintessence of Chapter 1 and
represents the start of a pack of wolves spying on people. Actual Continuum of
place is a Dark Forest, where our travelers was spying. In both Chapter the type of
context is similar (meditation).

On the whole the author operates with Articulation 5 times (3%).

4.The peculiarities of Cohesion realization

Cohesion is a logical text category that provides cause-sequence connections

in the context of each articulated part as well as between parts of the whole
context. The deictic means of Cohesion are conjunctions "because", "so", "as",
interrogative pronoun "why", "what for". "that's why" [1].
The text category is mainly realized explicitly in the form of meditation and
reveals why the pack of wolves wanted to eat travelers, for example,
All the wolves were drooling, because they were emaciated and were ready
to eat anything.
The wolves were so emaciated that their ribs bulged out from under their
skin.

In general the author operates with Cohesion 52 times (30%)

CONCLUSION

I chose a book called White Fang by Jack London.this is a novel, quite interesting,
which makes you think. The genre of my book is an adventure
One of the most famous adventure novels by Jack London. Its main character is a
wolf named White Fang, tamed by people in Alaska during the gold rush. This is a
story full of drama on behalf of a wolf about people. About different people. About
cruel and evil, cowards and traitors, kind and compassionate, noble and grateful.
About everyone that White Fang had to face on his difficult life path.

Much of White Fang is written from the viewpoint of the titular canine character,
enabling London to explore how animals view their world and how they view
humans. White Fang examines the violent world of wild animals and the equally
violent world of humans. The book also explores complex themes including
morality and redemption.

White Fang kills Hall and is nearly killed himself, but survives. As a result, the
women of Scott's estate name him "The Blessed Wolf". The story ends with White
Fang relaxing in the sun with the puppies he has fathered with the sheep-dog
Collie.
Jack London condemns people who have turned into animals, because they are
gods who should be responsible for all of nature, but in fact they cannot even take
responsibility for their own lives.
