The Impact from four Theories of Mass Media

1. Authoritarian Theory
Looked from society focused or social, there isn’t something special for them. Because,
mass media is the government devices, they can give their opinion and instruction and
whatever they want. Society cannot do anymore, they only can depend to mass media if
they want to know something.
In addition, The positive side from this theory looked from government view that there is
authority focused which is held by government and make them free to do something. The
government will control easier to the conflicts in the society and it will tend to decline
because there is control to anything which is considered can shake up the society, in the
other hand it can make things easier to shape the equation or integrity and consensus
which is hoped to the country is establishing the stable needed generally and especially.
And then, about the distribution that society depend on the mass media. If they want to
access it more, every individual must be to community. Because, this country give the
priority to community better than individual. So, the distribution is limited to certain
community.
2. Libertarian Theory
Looked from the correlation between society and government, and it’s the negative
impact that the country will be hard to controlled because there are more society will
criticize to them even will be happen the conflict between the society as the impact of
miss communication or miss perception and it will be hard to controlled by government.
The positive impact, actually, society can produce the opinion freely, they have the right
to having a notion. The mass media actually can expose everything which they consider
is interesting for them freely too.
 From the economic side or the distribution that it is rapidly development. Because,
everyone can access wherever they want. And their income is in high position, and they
can get the financial capital or the company can cooperate with the mass media.
And about the education, I think it will spread well. Everyone can access the knowledge
from every sources proper with they want. But, it will be needed the constraint to certain
information or news which it isn’t the essential thing and it only make the conflict or
problem between society or maybe government.
3. Soviet Media / Communist Theory
The negative that Mass Media is too controlled and observed tightly like they are
forbidden to criticize the party goal and their policies. The party consider that they are as
common staff for workers. They will be a doctrine, aye and ear for common or mass. The
media here can expose something while it don’t out from the ideology of the country. The
positive that The society or the media or the government have the same portion to do
everything. Because this theory have a certain responsibility to meet the wishes of their
audience, the media must present the information appropriate with society wanted and
still controlled by government.
4. The Social Responsibility Theory
The negative, that the government get the accountable thing same with the society, so the
government cannot do more about news which was distributed. Because, between
government and the society must make the treaty, especially from the society have the
special position in this theory if they will out of opinion. The positive, the society can get
the service to exchange critic and comment. The audience also can access fully in day
phenomenon.
Each phenomenon is reported truly, completely and educative. So, every audience feel
satisfied with the content of news. They feel that they get the basic of information with
secure and confident feeling, because mass media provide only the basic thing and the
sources cannot give the bad influencing to society. They have the certain criterion to
make the save news.
