WHY THIS IS LOVE?

T
HE BIBLE IS ALWAYS WHERE WE WILL
understand God; where we always get our
convictions about God.

Colossians 3:16 says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in

you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one
another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

The above text helps us see that songs can serve to

teach and admonish the believer.

The right songs have played a major role in leading me

to grow in my understanding of God.

Personally, many of the truths about God that have

settled in my mind have been emphasized first through
songs.

5
I remember first listening to Don Moen’s song titled He
loves you and the words, “There is nothing you can
do, to make Him love you more. There is nothing you
can do, to make Him love you less. He loves you, just
because He loves you,” got my attention.

My head couldn’t take it. It threw away every

understanding of God’s love I had prior to that time.

You mean I can’t do anything to make God love me

more, I thought. This was new to me. My head fought
this knowledge all the way. Yet somehow I left the song
on repeat till my mind began to grasp this truth.

He also sang, “Just take a look, it’s in His book how

much He loves you.”

Well, I had no choice but to do just that. I needed to see

evidence of what I had just listened to. I did!

Since then I have been a student of God’s love and I can

say boldly—God loves us—you and I!

6
My first turn was John 3:16:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his
only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is one of the most popular Bible texts, if not the

most popular one, and I had read it time and again, but
this time it came with understanding.

It had been written there all along that God loved the
world—not just some specific individuals!

God loved the world? Not just a few of us? All of us?
Yes!

So if He loved the world, is there something we can

point to as a constant proof of His love?

That is what we want to find out through this book.

7
We will look at what the Bible—God’s book, says about
His love for us—you and I.

My desire is that everyone reading will be stable in

their understanding of the love of God through this
book.

Ready, Set, Read!

Chapter 1

GOD IS
LOVE!
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
-1 John 4:8

F
IRST THINGS FIRST: GOD LOVES YOU! LET
those words sink in and personalize it: God
loves me!

Say it to yourself right where you are: God loves me!

I don’t mean the kind of love your partner may have for
you, I mean the fact that God is love! Yes, you read
correctly. God is love!

If I was to ask you, “What is your name?” You will

respond, my name is James (insert your name).

Likewise, if you were to ask God, “What is your name?”

One of His responses will be, “I am LOVE.”
9
1 John 4:8
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is
love.

God is love! That’s His nature; His identity; His

character; His attribute.

The constant thing to know about God is that He is

love.

He can’t be anything else. He is love—that’s who He is

always—yesterday, today, and forever!

Allow those words to be rooted and grounded in you.

Let it overwhelm your thoughts always… God is love!

In fact, love is of God. Love comes from God.

1 John 4:7
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of
God; and every one that loveth is born of God,
and knoweth God.

Did you see that? Love is of God.

10
The Living Bible renders the verse above, “…Love
comes from God.” That is, the origin of love, is God.

God is the reason we can speak of love. Without God,

we can’t completely talk about love. Love is of God; love
comes from God.

The world may have an idea of love, but the reason

they can is because there is a God who is love.

If God is love, love is of God, and God loves you, is there

something you can point to always that will assure you
of God’s Love for you?

Yes, there is. That’s what we seek to address in the

following pages.

But the first thing I want you to settle in your mind is

this: God is love!

SAY THIS: God is love. Love comes from God.

11
Chapter 2

THE CONSTANT DEFINITION

OF GOD’S LOVE
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life. -John 3:16

O
BSERVE THE HIGHLIGHTED PORTION OF THE
text above. God’s constant love is revealed in
the giving of His Son—Jesus Christ.

By one action, God eternally proved His love for all

human beings.

In the death, burial, and subsequent resurrection of

Jesus Christ for all human beings was God proving His
love for us eternally.

What God has done in Christ is an eternal

demonstration of God’s love for us.

12
If anyone wants to know how God loves you, you
simply point them to the work of the cross.

We remember the work of the cross—through the

death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and see
that, that was God showing us his love eternally.

Forever, the work of the cross will be the constant

display of God’s love.

He displayed to the whole world: this is me showing

you my love eternally—forever. Never doubt it.

This is the best Public Display of Affection (P.D.A) ever!

This is the love of God—He sent Jesus to die for our sins
and resurrect from the dead for our justification and
has offered eternal life to all who will believe in Him.

This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us,
and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1
John 4:10)

Friend, this knowledge should always be at the center

of your heart; at the back of your mind. It should
13
saturate your thoughts.

Your emotions can change, but the Word of God never

changes.

Sometimes you may feel like God loves you and some
other times you may not feel like He does, but you have
an assurance—the Word of God.

We don’t depend on our emotions to determine God’s

love for us, we trust the facts of the Bible. And the Bible
points to the sacrifice of Jesus as the symbol of God’s
love for us.

We sing the song:

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

What does the Bible tell us? He proved His love for us
on the cross. So we can rephrase the song thus:

14
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
He proved it on the cross

We have no doubts of the love of God—it is proved

through Jesus Christ and His finished work.

When your understanding of God’s love for you shifts

from how you feel to what God did in Christ, your
relating with God will be stable.

You will never have to ask, “Does God even love me?”
No! No! No! It is a fact. He loves you, and He proved it
on the cross.

SAY THIS: God loves me all the time. He proved it

on the cross.

15
Chapter 3

THE GREATEST
DISCOVERY
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

T
HE GREATEST DISCOVERY YOU CAN MAKE IS
that God loves you. Not that you love God, but
that God loves you.

Read it again: The greatest discovery you can make is

that God loves you.

Yes, you should love God in response to His love for

you, but your first focus should be on the love of
God—the love of God for you in Christ.

To know that your acceptance before God is solely

based on the love of God for you, not your love for
God—that’s the greatest discovery to make.

16
This is what we build our lives on—the love of God!
Why? God’s love for us is stable; constant; never
changing. We can always trust in His steadfast love for
us.

I love a song by Outburst Music Group titled Steadfast

Love. Let’s see the lyrics:

How great is your love

How great
How great is your love
How great
It won’t move
It won’t fail
Steadfast is your love.
I am basking in your love
Your everlasting love
Overpayment for my sins
That saved someone like me

17
The love of God never changes; never fails and that’s
why we can always trust it. The love of God is
everlasting. Hallelujah!

If the love of God never changes; never fails; is

everlasting, what then is the love of God?

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This is one of the most popular, if not the most popular

text in Christian circles. Even some unbelievers know
it.

Yet, it is one text to pay careful attention to. The

familiarity of a text shouldn’t let us miss out on the
treasures therein.

If you observe above, so is highlighted.

Here is why: I have lived in the southern part of

Nigeria, and I have seen Bibles in the Yoruba Language.
18
This definitely wasn’t the original language the Bible
was written because we also have the English
Language translation.

Why do I share this?

One thing that will help your understanding of the

Bible is to know that the Bible was not originally
written in English Language.

The Bible was originally written in Greek Language for

the New Testament and in Hebrew and Aramaic for the
Old Testament.

So what we have today in English is a translation. But

here is the dilemma: the most popular translation—the
King James Version (KJV) wasn’t translated to modern
day English.

It was translated in 1611 in old English. That is over

400 years! Since then, English Language has
progressed. We have more English words today than
we had at that time for use.

When you see words like saith, goeth, believeth, it is

19
not heavenly language, it is King James Language!

That will be simply saying says, goes, believes, in

modern day English.

Guess what? Jesus never spoke English. Neither did the

early apostles.

So a good Bible student will be patient to look up the

Greek and Hebrew equivalents of words and also use
newer translations as they study.

This calls for diligence, but it’s worth it. You are not
doing so to sound deep, but to understand better what
God is communicating to you.

In modern day English, the word so in our text will

speak of the intensity of something.

For example, if you love someone and want to put an

emphasis to the expression of your love, you tell the
person, “I love you so much.”

Of course, God loves us intensely. But this text (John

3:16) doesn’t speak of the intensity of God’s love for us.
20
Instead, it speaks of what God did to show His love;
the action that proved God’s love.

Now, God loves us that much; He loves us intensely; He

loves us so much (in today’s English), but this text is
not speaking about how much God loves us.

Instead, it speaks of the demonstration of God’s love

for us; the display of God’s love for us; how God
showed His love for us.

The word so was translated from the Greek word

houto which means in this way; in this manner; like
this.

So John 3:16 (KJV) can be rephrased thus:

For God (in this manner/in this way/like this) loved

the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but
have everlasting life.

God in this manner loved the world or God in this way

loved the world or God like this loved the world. This

21
is how God loved the world—He gave His Son that
whoever believes in Him will have everlasting life.

Why is this important?

It will help your understanding of God’s love to remain

constant; unshakable; unmovable; steadfast.

No matter what comes your way, you will never doubt

God’s love for you.

Circumstances, whether good or not, won’t define

God’s love to you.

Your possessions, whether you have or not, won’t

define God’s love to you. We have a constant
definition of God’s love!

Where is this definition?

Look at the International Standard Version (ISV) of

22
John 3:16:

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his

unique Son so that everyone who believes in him
might not be lost but have eternal life.

God has proved His love for us eternally in Christ. This

is how God loved us—He gave Jesus! We always rest in
this knowledge.

SAY THIS: This is how God loves us—He gave Jesus

as propitiation for our sins, and everyone who
believes in Him will not perish but have eternal
life.

23
Chapter 4

ONLY
BELIEVE!
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.-John 3:16

I
N THE PREVIOUS CHAPTERS, I HAVE LAID A
foundation on the constant definition of God’s
Love—the giving of Jesus to die for the sins of
mankind and resurrect for our justification.

Now, what’s your first response to this love?

Notice the highlighted portion of John 3 vs 16 above

reads whosoever believeth. It doesn’t read
whosoever believeth and does something extra. It
says whosoever believes alone.

Those words are in red in the Bible meaning they are

Jesus’ words. And what did He say will be needed to
receive the gospel; eternal life? Whosoever believes!
Nothing more.

24
Jesus is careful with words. So if there was something
more, then He would not have been careless not to
mention it. But He sure wasn’t careless! He knew what
He was saying and meant it with all of Him. There is
nothing more than to believe.

Whosoever believes—boy, girl, man, woman, young,

old, abled, disabled, anyone who believes in what Jesus
did through His death, burial, and resurrection benefits
of salvation; benefits of the ultimate display of the love
of God—eternal life.

Acts 16:30-31
30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I
do to be saved?

31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,

and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

The Philippian Jailer asked Paul and Silas what He

needed to do to be saved. And their response was,
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be
saved.” Nothing more.

25
Ephesians 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that
not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The provision of salvation is the grace of God shown to

all men and it is received by faith alone—by simply
believing. ONLY believe!

Now, Ephesians 2:10 tells us the believer has been

recreated in Christ unto good works. A believer (in
Christ) produces good works, but it is not his or her
good works that makes them a beneficiary of God’s
love.

The moment you believe in the death of Jesus Christ for

sins and His resurrection for our justification, you
become a beneficiary of God’s love in the context of
salvation. That is when an individual is saved. ONLY
believe, nothing more!

By simply believing in all Christ has done, an

individual benefits of the love of God which offers
eternal life.
26
God’s display of love through Christ Jesus which
brought salvation wasn’t to save us temporarily.

It wasn’t to save us for a while. It wasn’t to save us till

we make a mistake or do something wrong. The
salvation we receive in Christ is for eternity; forever;
until the end.

You either have eternal life or you don't. If you believe

in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus as
efficacious for you, what you receive is eternal life.

Hebrew 9:12
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own
blood he entered in once into the holy place, having
obtained eternal redemption for us.

Jesus has obtained eternal redemption for us. I didn’t

say it, that’s what the Bible says.

If the salvation you received is not eternal, then it is not

Jesus that saved you. But if you say Jesus saved you,
then the salvation He gives is eternal. Friend, rest in
that assurance. You have obtained eternal redemption
by faith in Christ Jesus.
27
Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Yes, the wages of sin is death. Yes, what man deserved

was death because of sin. But Jesus took the
responsibility for our sin so that through Him we might
live forever. “The gift of God is eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.” Eternal life is through Jesus
Christ.

So the reason someone doesn’t ‘make heaven’ is

because the person rejected the sacrifice of Christ, not
because he did something wrong at any point in life.

Does this mean this knowledge should lead to

licentiousness? No way. It should lead you to be
thankful; to realize that your stand before God is not
based on you, but on Christ ALONE!

Our hope is built on nothing else than the blood of

Jesus. We don’t trust the sweetest frame, we only trust
in Jesus’ name.

So yes, the punishment for sin is death, BUT the gift of

28
God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Eternal life is a gift; Eternal life is the gift of God.

You don’t pay for a gift, it is free. You don’t earn a gift,
you receive it. Jesus has paid for it. Jesus has earned it
on your behalf. All you need to do is receive it by simply
believing.

Jesus, not me, said, “Whosoever believes should not

perish, but have everlasting life.” If you have believed,
live rest assured that you have eternal life; you will live
forever!

Eternal life is what we receive in God’s demonstration

of love. We trust Him; we have eternal life now in our
spirits and we are sure of eternal life when He comes
again. Give the Father thanks! He loves you.

SAY THIS: I have believed the gospel. I’ll never

perish.

29
Chapter 5

THAT YOU
MAY KNOW
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you
free. -John 8:32

A
FTER SALVATION, THE MOST IMPORTANT
thing is knowledge.

The greatest need of the believer (in Christ) is

knowledge.

Knowledge! Knowledge! Knowledge! John 8:32 tells us:

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you
free.

You shall know the truth. Not half-truth, but accurate

truth.

An example of a half-truth is the statement: “Sex is a

sin.”

30
Now, sex outside marriage is a sin. Yet, sex in marriage
is not a sin. God created sex to be enjoyed in the
confines of marriage.

Yet, we have folks who were told growing up that sex

is a sin so they won’t get involved in pre-marital sex
and this built a wrong mindset in them that even in
marriage, they saw it as wrong. They only got half of
the truth!

So for the believer, knowledge is key. Yet not just

knowledge, true knowledge. Not assumed knowledge,
precise knowledge. Not partial knowledge, full
knowledge.

The Apostle Paul echoed this truth in his letters as

documented in the Bible. Let’s see some of them:

Ephesians 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father
of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom
and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Philippians 1:9
And this I pray, that your love may abound yet
31
more and more in knowledge and in all
judgment;

Colossians 1:9-10
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard
it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that
ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will
in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto

all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work,
and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Paul wasn’t satisfied that an individual was saved, he

desired that they will grow in knowledge of God; what
Christ has accomplished through His death, burial, and
resurrection and who they are now in Christ.

Paul also prayed again in Ephesians 3:14-19 which is

our emphasis in this chapter:

14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father

of our Lord Jesus Christ,

15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and

32
earth is named,

16 That he would grant you, according to the

riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might
by his Spirit in the inner man;

17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;

that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,

18 May be able to comprehend with all saints

what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and
height;

19 And to know the love of Christ, which

passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with
all the fulness of God.

Paul prayed that the believer will fully know the love
of Christ. That is, for the believer to be aware of; to be
sure of; to be resolved in; to be convinced of the love of
Christ.

So the believer shouldn’t be guessing or confused

about the love of Christ. The believer should be sure;
be aware of; should KNOW the love of Christ.
33
The believer should be stable and established in the
love of God—God’s love for them.

Paul says in verse 19, “to know the love of Christ,

which passeth knowledge.”

That phrase passeth knowledge speaks of

surpassing; exceeding knowledge.

That is, above everything else, the believer should

know; be aware of; be sure; be resolved in the love of
Christ.

The knowledge that should exceed every other

knowledge in the believer’s mind is the love of
Christ. The believer should be rooted and grounded in
this knowledge.

In verse 17, the word dwell implies settled. The word

heart implies consciousness; thoughts. The word
rooted implies firm. The word grounded implies to
lay a basis for or foundation.

34
So the knowledge of the love of Christ has to be settled
in the consciousness of the believer. When the believer
goes to bed or awakes, the knowledge of the love of
God should be your overwhelming thoughts.

You should be firm in this knowledge—the knowledge

of the love of Christ. You should be established in this
knowledge because the love of Christ is the basis for
the Christian faith.

Let me state that again: the love of Christ is the basis

for the Christian faith.

For the believer to always be stable in the

understanding of how God relates with us, we have to
be settled in the knowledge of the love of Christ—the
over the top knowledge of the love of God for us.

You should understand it; have a firm grip of it; be

settled in the knowledge of the love of Christ.

You should have a complete knowledge of the love of

God in Christ.
35
Once you have this knowledge, you have
understood the Christian faith.

SAY THIS: The Love of Christ is the basis for the

Christian faith.

36
Chapter 6

NOTHING CAN
SEPARATE YOU
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor
angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things
present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor
any other creature, shall be able to separate us from
the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
-Romans 8:38-39

A
POSTLE PAUL SIR, ARE YOU SURE? NOTHING
can separate us from the love of God? Not life,
not death, not angels, not principalities, not
powers, not things present, not things to come, not a
person?

Yes! Nothing! Why?

The answer is seen in the last part of verse 39,

“…which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

God’s love for us is revealed in Christ Jesus. To discern

37
God’s love; to know God’s love, we look to Jesus.

In looking to Jesus, we look to the Cross and what Jesus

going to the Cross and his subsequent resurrection has
done for mankind.

For anything to be able to separate us from the love of

God, it would have to stop Jesus from going to the cross.

As long as you can’t do that, we can’t be separated from

the love of God. And guess what? It is impossible! He
has already gone! Glory to God!

Jesus can’t be un-crucified, He has already been

crucified. And He is risen and alive today and all who
believe are in Him. Because He lives, all who believe
live too! Therefore, nothing can separate us from the
love of God.

All who believe are eternally loved by God. His love for
us is steadfast; never changing; constant. He loves us
forever.

What He did through the cross to prove His love for you
is a permanent work. Nothing can undo it because
38
nothing can stop Jesus from going to the cross. He has
already gone. Hallelujah!

Friend, God’s love for you is permanent and

unchanging. Nothing can separate you from God’s love
because it was proved through Jesus’s sacrifice. He
loves you always and nothing can ever change that.

Look again at the International Standard Version (ISV)

of John 3:16:

For this is how God loved the world: He gave his

unique Son so that everyone who believes in him
might not be lost but have eternal life.

God has proved His love for us eternally in Christ. This

is how God loved us—He gave Jesus! We always rest in
this knowledge. Nothing can separate us from the love
of God.

SAY THIS: Nothing can separate all who believe

from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord.

39
Chapter 7

FORGIVEN
IN LOVE!
“Behold, the lamb of God that takes away the sins of
the world.” –John 1:29

A
FUNDAMENTAL TRUTH TO KNOW ABOUT
God’s love is forgiveness of sins.

You can’t speak of the love of God and not speak of

forgiveness of sins.

So far, we have seen that the love of God is revealed in

Christ Jesus and this is seen in His death for our sins
and His resurrection for our justification.

Hence, the fact that forgiveness of sins has been

provided in God’s love can’t be bypassed.

40
Now, what does forgiveness of sins mean?
Forgiveness of sins means that sin is taken away.

Forgiveness of sins means there is no record of sins

anymore—the record is taken away.

Know this: Forgiveness deals with God. The sins are

taken away from His presence. They are taken away
from His discussions with you; they are taken away
from His relations with you. Praise God.

When John the Baptist saw Jesus, he said in John 1:29,

“Behold, the lamb of God that takes away the sins of
the world.”

Under the Old Covenant, they offered a yearly sacrifice

for sin, but it never took care of the sin problem.

The reality is that God didn’t require their sacrifices. All

God required that will be acceptable for sin was ONE
sacrifice—Christ; the Lamb of God!

41
That’s why David had this to say:

Psalm 40:6
Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire;
mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and
sin offering hast thou not required.

God didn’t require their sacrifices and offerings. Only

the sacrifice of Christ could be acceptable.

Isaiah 53:5
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he
was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and
with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus was bruised for our iniquities. He was made sin

for us that we might be made the righteousness of God
in Christ.

For the one who has believed the gospel, in your

relationship with God, sin will never be a factor.
42
Sin will not be an issue in your relationship with the
Father. He will not treat you according to sin, He will
treat you in His Son ALONE.

After hearing this, people ask, “Are you now saying we

should keep sinning because God doesn’t treat us
according to sin, but in His Son alone?”

No way! In Christ, sin has been taken care of. Sin no

longer has dominion over the believer.

You can’t truly grasp the truth that sin no longer has
dominion over you and go on enjoying sin.

See what Paul says:

What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin,

that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall
we, that are dead to sin, live any longer
therein? (Romans 6:1-2)

If a believer wants to walk in victory over sin, s/he

needs to feed more on the reality that Christ has taken
43
care of sin and that sin no longer has dominion over
him/her and walk in the light of this. For a start,
Romans 6 is a good chapter to read and meditate on.

Let’s see some other texts that emphasizes forgiveness

in Christ:

2 Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the
world unto himself, not imputing their
trespasses unto them; and hath committed
unto us the word of reconciliation.

God is not counting sins.

Ephesians 1:7
In whom we have redemption through his
blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the
riches of his grace;

According to the riches of God’s grace, we have

forgiveness of sins through the blood of Jesus.
44
Colossians 1:14
In whom, we have redemption through his
blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Again, we see we have forgiveness of sins through the

blood of Jesus.

Hebrews 8:12
For I will be merciful to their
unrighteousness, and their sins and their
iniquities will I remember no more.

God doesn’t remember sins.

Hebrews 10:2
For then would they not have ceased to be
offered? because that the worshippers once
purged should have had no more conscience
of sins.

45
God desires that we are no longer sin conscious. Why?
We have been purged from sin once and for all.

Hebrews 10:17
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no
more.

Again, our sins and iniquities, God remembers no

more.

Hebrews 10:18
Now where remission of these is, there is no
more offering for sin.

There is no more offering for sin. Christ has offered

Himself once for all.

Clearly seen in the texts we just looked at, forgiveness

of sins; that is, remission of sins, is in the blood of Jesus
and it is a demonstration of God’s love for man which
is received by faith in the gospel.

46
Let’s also address Psalm 103:

Psalm 103:1-2
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within
me, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all
his benefits:

David tells us to bless the Lord and forget not His

benefits. What is one of His benefits?

Psalm 103:3
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who
healeth all thy diseases;

One of the benefits is that all our iniquities are forgiven.

Psalm 103:10
He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor
rewarded us according to our iniquities.

47
God has not dealt with us after our sins. He has not
rewarded us according to our iniquities. So what has
He done with them?

Psalm 103:11-12
11 For as the heaven is high above the
earth, so great is his mercy toward them that
fear him.
12 As far as the east is from the west, so far
hath he removed our transgressions from us.

Can you measure the distance between heaven and

earth? It’s not possible. That’s how you can’t measure
God’s mercy toward us. His mercy is great toward us.

From verse 12, the east and west will always be apart.
And it is likened to how far our transgressions have
been removed from us. That means our transgressions
will always be apart from us! Glory to God!

All who believe have been separated from our sins

forever. Hallelujah! This is a knowledge God wants you

48
to be rooted and grounded in. He wants you to be firm
in this knowledge—He is not counting sins against you.

There is no record of sin against you. There is no book

where God is keeping records of sins. No! Your sins
and iniquities He remembers no more because you
have believed the Gospel!

This is the love of God to offer forgiveness of sins.

Forgiveness of sins is ONLY in the blood of Jesus. That’s
what the Word says. We must believe the Word above
anything else.

Romans 5:1
Therefore being justified by faith, we have
peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ:

We have been justified by faith. We have peace with

God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

49
Peace with God is in a person, not our experience...
through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Friend, forgiveness of sins is a fundamental

blessing of the love of God.

We can stand before God without guilt; without feeling

inferior; without a consciousness of sin.

Righteousness is imputed to us. God has given

righteousness to us as a gift.

Romans 5:17
For if by one man's offence death reigned by one;
much more they which receive abundance of
grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign
in life by one, Jesus Christ.

This is the love of God—we have received abundance

of grace; we have received the gift of righteousness; we
reign in life; we have forgiveness of sins! Hallelujah!

50
Luke 7:37-38
37 And, behold, a woman in the city, which was
a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in
the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of
ointment,
38 And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and
began to wash his feet with tears, and did
wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed
his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

See how this woman in the texts above was described:

A woman in the city, which was a sinner.

This woman was not just a sinner, everyone knew her

as a sinner. Yet, she came to Jesus—the image of God
and He didn't turn her away.

She washed his feet with her tears, and wiped them
with her hair. A woman cherishes her hair. For her to
use them to wipe Jesus’ feet, she really was in awe of
Him.

51
This whole scenario caused a stir there. See the next
verse:

39 Now when the Pharisee which had bidden

him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This
man, if he were a prophet, would have known
who and what manner of woman this is that
toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

The Pharisee said, how will this Man Of God be

allowing a sinner touch Him? Imagine a sinner calling
another a sinner! Hypocrisy!

Jesus told a parable in response to the Pharisee:

41 There was a certain creditor which had two

debtors: the one owed five hundred pence,
and the other fifty.
42 And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly
forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of
them will love him most?

52
In our currency today, it will be like forgiving someone
owing 5,000,000 and another person owing 500.
Definitely the one who owed 5,000,000 will be more
thankful.

The Pharisee duly responded that the one who was

forgiven more will respond more with love (verse 43).

Jesus goes on speaking:

44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto

Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into
thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet:
but she hath washed my feet with tears, and
wiped them with the hairs of her head.

45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since

the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but
this woman hath anointed my feet with
ointment.

53
Giving a kiss was a cultural thing amongst Jews. It was
their way of greeting. And it's not kissing as with
couples. So don’t go and kiss that brother or sister and
claim the lady kissed Jesus. Also it was Jesus' feet.
Amen?

47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are

many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to
whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

Jesus uses a figure of speech here. One person's

forgiveness is not more than another person's own.
You are either forgiven or you are not! But Jesus uses
this to describe seeing value in His sacrifice.

The woman knew the value and wasn’t claiming self-

righteousness like the Pharisees. She simply
responded in awe to Jesus' love.

Likewise, Jesus wants us to see the value in His

sacrifice. To see that we are forgiven; we have
forgiveness of sins; forgiveness belongs to us. Glory to
God!

54
That word forgiven implies it is yours. That is, to give
something that now belongs to you! Forgiveness
belongs to us; forgiveness is now ours!

Ephesians 4:32
And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted,
forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake
hath forgiven you.

Observe it didn't say, God will or is going to forgive us.

It says God has forgiven us! Hallelujah!

This is the love of God shown to man...forgiveness of

sins! We are eternally grateful for the eternal love God
has for us. Give Him thanks. He loves you!

We are forgiven; we have forgiveness of sins in Christ

and this is the display of God's love.

55
SAY THIS: Because I have believed the gospel, I
have forgiveness of sins. God is not counting sins
against me. I am forgiven in Christ Jesus.

56
Chapter 8

TEXTS ON THE DISPLAY OF GOD’S

LOVE TO MEDITATE ON

B
ELOW ARE SOME OTHER TEXTS THAT SHOW
the display of God’s love for us:

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

God demonstrated His love for us by the fact that while

we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 3:16
Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid
down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our
lives for the brethren.

This is how we have come to know the love of God,

Jesus laid down His life for us.

57
1 John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us,
because that God sent his only begotten Son into the
world, that we might live through him.

This is how God’s love was revealed to us—in the

sacrifice of Jesus!

1 John 4:10
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he
loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for
our sins.

This is love! This is the ultimate definition of love. This

is the ultimate love—the love of God! This is the best
display of love. No other display of love can compare to
what has been shown in Christ. Not that we loved God,
but that He loved us! So we don’t boast in our love for
God, we boast in His overwhelming love for us. We love
only because He first loved us. Now, we say we love
God because He first loved us.

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I,
but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in
58
the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who
loved me, and gave himself for me.

He loved us, and gave Himself for us.

Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and
the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the
kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and
washed us from our sins in his own blood,

He loved us and washed us from our sins in His own

blood.

59
Chapter 9

PERSONALIZE
GOD’S LOVE

O
UR FIRST UNDERSTANDING OF LOVE IS THAT
God first loved us. We need to learn to
personalize God’s love.

Statements like, “I am loved by God; I am the one Jesus

loves” should be on our lips consistently.

You may have heard the phrase “John, the beloved.”

But why is John popularly referred to as beloved? Did
Jesus give him the name? Let’s find out:

John 13:23
Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his
disciples, whom Jesus loved.

Observe the phrase whom Jesus loved.

60
John 19:26
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple
standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his
mother, Woman, behold thy son!

Again, the phrase whom Jesus loved.

John 20:2
Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to
the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto
them, They have taken away the Lord out of the
sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

We see it again, the phrase whom Jesus loved.

John 21:7
Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto
Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that
it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for
he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.

Yet again, the phrase whom Jesus loved.

61
John 21:20
Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom
Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast
at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth
thee?

Again, the phrase whom Jesus loved.

If you check through the Bible, you will find that phrase
whom Jesus loved only in the Book of John. So who
wrote the book of John? Your guess is as good as mine…
John did!

John 21:24
This is the disciple which testifieth of these things,
and wrote these things: and we know that his
testimony is true.

Jesus never said that John was the disciple that He

loved. Of course Jesus loved all of them, but it was John
that made the statement.

So what was John doing? He was personalizing Jesus’

love. He understood Jesus’ love for him and
personalized the love.
62
Ephesians 1:6
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath
made us accepted in the beloved.

The believer is accepted in the beloved. The believer is

the beloved of God.

There is a TV program where this statement is made:

We are nothing but pencils in the hands of the creator.
Pencils? The believer? In the hand of the creator? No
way!

We are not pencils; we are the beloved of God. We are

loved by God; we are valued by God; we are people of
worth!

That you are rejected in any capacity shouldn’t make

you sad. You have been accepted by the Greater one!
Hallelujah! You are loved by God!

SAY THIS: I am the beloved of God. I am loved by

God; I am valued by God; I am a person of worth!

63
Chapter 10

WHAT MANNER
OF LOVE!

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath

bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons
of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it
knew him not. 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God,
and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him;
for we shall see him as he is. -1 John 3:1-2

T
HAT WORD BEHOLD IN VERSE 1 ABOVE
means to look intently, not casually. That is, to
feast on it; to appreciate it and see how
marvelous it is; to look at intentionally.

We are to feast on the love of God; we are to appreciate

it; we need to actively know the love of God for us; we
are to see how marvelous it is; we are to look at the
love of God intentionally.

For example, a guy is more inclined to football. For the

64
team he supports, he will know the first team, reserve
squad, fixtures, etc. On the other hand, a lady will be
satisfied to just know the name of the football club
without bothering who plays there. What is the
difference? The guy is intentional while the lady is
casual.

The love of God is something to look intently at…the

love of God is not something to be casual about.

The reality is that there are believers today who only

see their love for God, but have not seen His love for
them. We see this scenario in the parable of the lost
son. It’s a parable. We are to simply draw lessons from
it.

It’s a familiar story where the lost son returned to his

father and a fat calf was killed for him. When the older
son came and saw the merriment and dancing, he
inquired as to what was happening. A servant
responded, “Your brother is back.” How did he respond
to this?

Luke 15:28
And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore

65
came his father out, and intreated him.

He was angry. Why? Because his father was celebrating

the return of his lost son. Let’s read on:

Luke 15:29-30
29 And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many
years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time
thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid,
that I might make merry with my friends:

30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath

devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for
him the fatted calf.

He went on complaining how he had served his father

all these years and not for once had his father
celebrated him, but he was celebrating his son who ran
off. And how did his father respond to him?

Luke 15:31
And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and
all that I have is thine.

Wow! Did you see that? The father told him, you are
66
ever with me; all I have is yours! Wow! He was only
seeing what he was doing for his father and not seeing
what his father has made available for him. “All that I
have is thine,” said the father.

So friend, don’t only see your service for God, see

His love for you.

Just like we read earlier in 1 John 3:1, “Behold, what

manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us.” That
is, SEE the love the Father has shown to us—you and I,
that we should be called His children.

This is what we build our confidence on; our

assurance; on His faithfulness—His love in making us
His children.

The reality is this: There will always be believers (in

Christ) that won’t live right, but it doesn’t change the
fact they are God’s children.

1 John was written to believers (in Christ). And Apostle

John didn’t say God loved only a few of them. He used
the word us. God doesn’t need our permission to call
any one His child. All who believe in Him are His
67
children.

Now are we the sons of God! Not tomorrow, not next

year, not when Jesus returns, now! We are children of
the Father because of His love. Behold, what manner of
love the Father has bestowed upon us that we should
be called children of God.

Now, God wants us to do right. He has recreated us in

Christ unto good works. But we don’t build our
Christian walk on deeds, we build our Christian walk
on His love; what Christ has done which was the
demonstration of God’s love to us.

1 John 3:1
Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed
upon us, that we should be called the sons of God:
therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew
him not.

That word bestow implies to lavish; to spoil with; to

give without restrictions.

God has lavished His love on us. He has shown His love
for us without any restriction. He didn’t hold back in
68
loving us.

There is a song by Bethel Music Group titled Reckless

Love. The love of God is something you may call
reckless because there are no restrictions to His love.
He simply loves without holding back! We need to
always see this. We are loved by God without any
restrictions.

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay
down his life for his friends.

Question: Who did Jesus lay down His life for? The
answer is simply sinners. Romans 5:8 says, “While we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” In John 15 above,
He called sinners his friends because in that text He
was speaking of what He was about to do.

Jesus is actually fond of sinners. He is the friend of

sinners. And He describes the sacrifice of His life for
sinners as the demonstration of a greater love.

John 15:12
This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as
69
I have loved you.

In verse 12, Jesus had mentioned that they should love

just as He loved. That would refer to showing kindness
and compassion while He was on earth. Then in verse
13 above, He points them to a greater demonstration
of love; a greater love; the highest display of love… and
that is in Him laying down His life for sinners so that
they can become righteous.

Jesus died because He loved us while we were still

sinners. Yes, He loves the individual, but He doesn’t like
sin. That’s why He took care of sin through His death.
That’s why He laid down His life. So that by faith in Him
we move from sinners to saints.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.

Did you see that? God loved how many people? Only
Christians? No! The world! When you understand
that God loves everyone, you—His child will not
have a reason to say, “Does God love me?” No! No!

70
No! He loves you all the time.

Romans 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that,
while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Who did God show love to? Sinners! Who is a sinner?

One who does nothing right. So what did He do in love?
He died to make us right!

2 Corinthians 5:21
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no
sin; that we might be made the righteousness of
God in him.

Jesus became sin so that we might become the

righteousness of God. Today, all who believe are
righteous; we are the righteousness of God in Christ
Jesus. Hallelujah!

God loved us when we didn’t dream of believing in

Him. How much more when you believe?

71
Romans 8:32
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up
for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us
all things?

To show His love, He didn’t spare His Son. He gave

Jesus Christ to die and rise again so we can have life. He
willingly laid down His life for us…this is the love of
God!

John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only
begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should
not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn
the world; but that the world through him might be
saved.

To perish is to be condemned. But for the one who has

believed, he/she can’t be condemned because God
loves us (Romans 8:1). He died for us!

If we can keep in sight the realities of the death of Jesus

for us, we will keep the love of God as the focus of our
72
hearts.

We build our lives not on our love for God, but on His
overwhelming love for us. It is His love for us that
makes us love Him and others. We love Him because
He first loved us.

Our focus is to know the love of Christ—the surpassing

knowledge of the love of Christ. We should sing about
it; say it; speak about what Christ has done for us as the
show of God’s love for us.

This will lead us to worship in truth. Worship is to

respond to the love of God for us in Christ. When we
ponder on all that has been accomplished in Christ, our
hearts will truly worship the Father.

Friend, don’t build your life on your love for God, build
it on His love for you. And know this: His love for you
is not something experiential. How do I mean?

“Oh, I feel loved of God…I wrote an exam, my result is

out and I passed. Oh, God loves me.” Now, there is
nothing wrong in being thankful to God for passing an
exam. We should be. But if you base God’s love for you
73
on the fact that you passed an exam, what if you didn’t
pass? Will you doubt God’s love for you? Think about
it!

See, the love of God for you is not your experiences. As

noted earlier, we have a definite definition of the love
of God for us revealed in Christ as seen in scriptures.
God’s Word reveals His love for us. We feast on the
Word and are stable in His love.

Friend, we know we are loved by God because we

understand that the greater love is in the death of Jesus
Christ for the sins of mankind.

This is love—the love of the Father, even while we

were yet sinners, Christ died for us! Give Him thanks
today.

SAY THIS: I understand that the greatest love on

earth is in the death of Jesus Christ for the sins of
mankind and His resurrection for our justification.

Chapter 12

RESPOND TO
GOD’S LOVE!

Earlier, we looked at the first response to God’s love—

faith in Christ. In another book, I'll focus more on our
response to the love of God. However, in this chapter,
I'll establish an introduction on three other responses
to God’s love.

a. Walk in Victory over Sin

I had a friend during my undergraduate days, who

always sang this one-line song—Tell the Devil, no!

That should be our response to sin. Say no to sin! Tell

the Devil, no!

The sacrifice of Jesus was for sin. Now, in Christ, you

can say no to sin because sin no longer has dominion
over you.

78
When we share from the Word that God is not counting
sins, some say that's giving people a license to sin. But
really, people are already sinning without any license!

The question to ask is, why is God not counting sins? It

is because in Christ the sin problem was dealt with.
Jesus Christ died for our sins. That’s a fact of scriptures.

He has done everything that needs to be done about sin

and that's why God is not counting sins. The reason an
individual will go to hell is because they reject what
Christ has done.

The truth is this: an individual can't truly know that

God is not counting sins against them and still want to
go on in sin.

You can’t truly grasp the message that God in Christ has
taken care of sin and still want to wallow in sin. No! You
will rise in victory and say, “I have no business with sin
because Christ has done something about sin already.”

Paul asks in Romans 6:1, “Shall we continue in sin, that

grace may abound?” He responds, “God forbid.” Then
79
goes on to say, “How shall we, that are dead to sin, live
any longer therein?”

Do you get it? When you are dead to something you

can't be involved with it at the same time. The believer
is dead to sin and alive to God in Christ. The believer is
the righteousness of God in Christ. This is the believer’s
reality.

2 Corinthians 5:19
To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world
unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them;
and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

What are you saying? Walking in victory over sin starts

with what you are saying. You can’t keep saying you
are struggling with sin and walk in victory over sin.

The believer is not struggling with sin, the believer is

free from sin already! The believer is not a servant of
sin. No! The old man has been crucified with Christ!
Praise God!

Romans 6:6-7
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him,
that the body of sin might be destroyed, that
henceforth we should not serve sin.

7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.

The moment an individual dies, you can’t point sin to

him. Likewise, because the believer has been crucified
with Christ, s/he is free from sin.

So the first thing believers ought to do is acknowledge

this fact with their mouth. Say instead, “Sin doesn’t
have dominion over me; I want to walk in my
dominion.”

See, sin has been defeated; sin has lost; sin has no
dominion over the believer anymore. Jesus has won
the victory! That habit is not stronger than the Spirit of
God in you. No! No! No! You are born of God; you have
overcome the world! Hallelujah!

We are indwelt by the Spirit of God. We are people led

by the spirit. We are not in the flesh; we are in the
81
Spirit. The life we now live is by the faith of the Son of
God.

James 3:2
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend
not in word, the same [is] a perfect man, [and] able
also to bridle the whole body.

Observe what James says here. He says that if a man

offends not in word, he is also able to bridle the body.
That is, a man that doesn’t say the wrong things is a
man that will restrain; keep in check his body. So to
walk in victory over sin, you have to control your
tongue. What are you saying?

For the believer, it’s not the sin that is the problem, it’s
what the believer is saying. The reason you have the
word of God is so you can say it. The word of God is
your reality. God said so that you can boldly say!
Friend, speak the word.

Say consistently, “I am not yielding to lustful thoughts

or desires. I am not yielding to anger. I am in Christ. I

82
have crucified the flesh and its lust thereof. I am dead
to sin and alive to God.”

Paul tells us that because of all that Christ has

accomplished, we should reckon; consider ourselves
indeed dead unto sin and alive unto God through Jesus
Christ our Lord.

Our victory is in all that Christ has accomplished.

Friend, put God’s word on your lips and walk in victory.

b. Walk in Love

Below, I share two areas you should walk in love:

i. Forgive others:

Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving

one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath
forgiven you. (Ephesians 4:32)

Faith in the gospel of Christ is followed by love for the

saints. You can't claim to love the Lord Jesus and not
love His family.

83
Think of it in the natural: you can't claim to love a
person and hate their family. It can't work.

Every believer is a member of Christ's family. Our love

for Him, would be seen in our love for our brothers and
sisters in Christ.

Ephesians 1:15
Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord
Jesus, and love unto all the saints,

Colossians 1:4
Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of
the love which ye have to all the saints,

2 Thessalonians 1:3
We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren,
as it is meet, because that your faith groweth
exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all
toward each other aboundeth;

From the above texts, you'll see faith in Christ

accompanied with love to all saints.

84
Our response to being shown love in Christ is to show
love to all saints.

From Ephesians 4:32 shared first, Paul writes that we

are to be kind one to another; tenderhearted. That
word tenderhearted means compassionate.

Paul goes on to tell us we should be forgiving and

describes how forgiving we should be, "... even as God
for Christ's sake hath forgiven us." This is huge!

Think of the fact we did nothing to deserve God's

forgiveness, yet we have His forgiveness today. That's
how we forgive. Christ is where we look.

You may say, "I'm not God." But you have His Spirit in
you. You have His nature. God lives in you. He is not
asking you to do what He hasn't enabled you to do.

No matter the wrong done to you, you can forgive even

as God for Christ sake has forgiven you.

If you understand the forgiveness you've received in

Christ, you'll never have issues with forgiving. You can
forgive because Christ lives in you.
85
Say no to strife. Say no to un-forgiveness. No offence
should be too much for you to forgive in Christ. Forgive
as you have been forgiven.

ii. Give to others:

Many believers can quote John 3:16, but not many can
quote 1 John 3:16. It's saying the same thing, but now
with a responsibility for you. Read it below:

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because

he laid down his life for us: and we ought to
lay down our lives for the brethren.

There is a premise for us walking in love, and that is

that Christ first loved us. It is not enough to know that
God loves us, we need to show that love to others too.

We have received love from Christ and it is only right

for us to extend that love to others. We are to be
intentional about showing love to others.

86
You can’t hear of someone you know in need and you
have the ability to meet that need and fold your hands
without doing anything.

You can’t hear of a child chased out of school and you

can help with the school fees and turn a blind eye to it.

There is always something to give. Look out for how

you can give to others.

Remember always that there is a reason you show

love which is that you have received God’s love. You
don’t show love to get God to love you or favor you, you
love because God has already extended His love
toward you.

So friend, take the time to ask yourself, “How can I give

more to others as I am able to?” and give!

c. Tell of His Love

Oh yes, you have believed the Gospel. You have
received the love of God. Are you going to keep it to
yourself?

87
There are many out there who are yet to believe the
Gospel who need to. It will be selfish of you not to play
a role in seeing that they hear about Jesus and what He
has done for them.

Make the decision to tell more people about Jesus than

you have ever done in your whole life combined this
year.

Also, apart from preaching, you can partner with your

local church, institutions, or organizations that are
involved with the spread of the Gospel cheerfully and
sacrificially with your resources with the knowledge
that your investments go a long way in the spread of
the Gospel.

Jesus did it, we are to tell it! Play your part. God is
counting on you!

88
CONCLUSION

This is the love of God—not that we loved God, but that

he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for
our sins.

That word propitiation implies to appease. That is, to

stop someone from being angry by pleasing them.

The sacrifice of Jesus for man’s sins was pleasing to

God. And all because of Jesus, God is pleased with you
yesterday, today, and forever.

God never changes His opinion of you. Why? His

opinion of you is in Christ! Since He is pleased with
Christ, and you are in Christ, He is pleased with you
too! He always loves you! Hallelujah!

Our love is made perfect in God’s perfect love. In His

perfect love is no fear. Not our perfect love, but His
perfect love for us. And today we love him and others
because He first loved us.

We rest in the knowledge that He first loved us and

89
from that we respond by walking in love with others—
we love because He FIRST loved us.

We first understand love in the fact that He first loved

us. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he
loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our
sins (1 John 4:10).

Go out to the world and tell of His love revealed in

Christ! Blessed are you. God loves you. Yes, you!

Affirm:
I know the perfect love of God.
I am convinced of the loved of God for me.
I am secure in the love of God forever.
God loves me eternally.
He loves me and He proved it on the cross.
I never doubt it, I am convinced of it.
I am stable in my understanding of His love.
I love just as I have been loved by God.
And I tell the world around me of His love!
