Centriffugal casting iss a prroductio on technologyy used to make m
composite poles (with h fibergglass) in the shape of a truncaated
cone wwith maxximum length o of 10 me eter.
The poole is foormed by b inserrting the e reinfo
orcemennt (fiberglass) in a
specificc rotating mou uld thatt has a trunca ated‐co ne caviity. Duee to
centrifuugal forrce, the fiberglaass adhe eres to the wallls of the mold and
takes its shaape.
The maatrix (reesin) insside thee mould d is imppregnatted with h fibergglass
due to the rap pid rotaation off the mould (ce entrifuggal castiing). It also
hardenns by po olymerizzing when it co omes in n contacct with the heaated
mould.
The po oles pro oduced by cen ntrifugaal castinng can have consiste
c ence
thickneess due to the possibillity of controlli
c ng the distribuution of the
reinforcementt inside e the mould. This way, w taapered poles are
obtaineed whicch are reinforceed only in the critical areas determid ined
by theiir use. This
T is accomp
a plished without
w t increassing thickness and
thus weeight ovver the entire
e leength.
This teechnologgy makkes it p
possible to make prodducts with
w a high
h
degree of dimeensional and phhysical‐m
mechan
nical reppeatabiliity.
